I will admit I'm a little ignorant when it comes to crossovers. It is my understanding the only purpose of the crossover is to direct the required frequencies to the various drivers.

Maybe this is an overly simplified explanation since I have seen some crossovers that are very complex IMO. There are even active vs. passive ones. My 846B's have a very simple crossover. Since most os the Altec systems I am familiar with are two way systems I don't understand why the crossovers are so complex.

Am I missing something here?
