I just checked with my brother, he paid $900 for his pair of model 17's in January of '79. He got a deal on the floor models in the showroom because they were getting ready to remodel the store.Yeah I don't know where I came up with that price ?
I don't want to hear anything about the Euro here please, everybody in the rich countries in Western Europe hates that currency, it's terrible, the only thing we want back is the Dutch Guilder or the D-Mark. Sorry
The cheapest Mercedes C 200 CDI costs in Euros now about 40.000 euros that's about $56000.
Next year I'm a poor man I think, it's terrible.![]()

From Audio annual mfg. listings in three volumes I have at hand. Full retail suggested prices, with liberal portion of inflation, of course
1977 $659 ea.
1978 $749 ea.
1980 $1,000 ea.
I bought a pair of A7X in 1977 right after I graduated College for $349 ea from Stereo Superstores.
They called them disco speakers.
It was a blowout sale. 416-8B, 802-8G, 511 horns and the N1201 crossovers.
I don't even remember when I got rid of them, but I still have all the components.

Actually, it's ALL debt............. in the USA. We have no "standard" on which our currency is based, and 9 out of 10 Americans don't have a clue where money comes from or how it's created literally out of thin air by a few select folks in the very private sector. That's why they're able keep printing more and more, effectively driving the value of the dollar further down. The dollar is losing it's place globally, and those folks in this country who don't "get it" and are not preparing, are going to have a painfully rude awakening in the not too distant future.....it's only money.
One example, when the countries we buy our oil from are no longer willing to accept dollars for oil(and this is going to happen) you will see petroleum prices in the US come up to par with the rest of the world, and that's going to change a lot of American lives forever.
