    HI,

    This is not an Altec unit It says made in England.

    Am I missing something as there is only one post ? I assume you are referring to something.A little more detail may be helpful

    Sorry I haven`t provided enough info. This unit was devised by EMI engineers for recording the Beatles. It`s similar to the APHEX compellor. It uses lower harmonics to recreate high frequencies. In other words it increases total HMD to achieve that.

    Ah ha! Thanks. So it's a line level device? Is it all passive, do you know?

    It`s passive alright. I`ve been fixing Paging systems with APHEX systems. It improves overall speech intelligibilty and brings out details in music such as percussions . I prefer it to EQ.Not evry one want`s to replace all of their PA speakers with Altec`s.
    It would be such an improvement. Bill at GPA should think at bringing back the pancake speaker and try to make a deal with BOGEN.
