Seriously nothing to be sorry about.

I think GM has made some past posts, the 420 models well in a ported box, but bigger than the Santana/Madrid.

Speaking of Madrids my brother has a set cabs decent, dented aluminum dust caps, and a couple pinholes in tweets, which should be upgraded anyway. A hundred clams. Wouldn't take a lot to make them first class.

"B's" were late, 1974 and after, and are the premium 420 using a 16 inch frame and the cast motor of the 416-8B.

I'm pretty sure the Madrid was out of production by the time the 420-8B came along, but as soon as i say that an "odd duck" will surface.

So, a blown 420B could be reconed into a "real" 416-8B (same motor and 16" frame)?

My bad. I think you are right, but won't guarantee empty boxes weren't sitting around and stuffed later...have seen enough weirdness to be careful about absolutes. But have never seen a Madrid with 420B. only 420A. to be technical, 420-Z.

Hmmmm....I have a pair of 872Bs, my first Altecs/first hit of crack in fact. I could swear that they are the newer style frame without the integral tweeter.....
