FWIW, the set-up manual that comes packed in a new 8254/8256 package gives instructions for both standard parallel 4 ohm operation and 8 ohm operation using the 15067 autoformer in the LF circuit.

Sadly, it seems the altecpro site is finally gone, and my cd-rom drive is jammed up so i cannot access the Altec data sheet for the 3154.

Gone but not forgotten... Anyway I saved the entire Altecpro website to hard drive,and backed up to thumb drive as well + many,many others that I hope I can add to the site soon.....

FWIW, i have all the Altecpro pdf's burned to disc. But, the only PC i have unpacked and set up has a jammed tray in the dvd-rom drive.

Shove a toothpick in that tiny hole in the front of the drive - manual release. Or if it's jammed really tight, use a piece of 14 gauge wire...

Newer drive, no emergency release.

Any other suggestions short of a hammer or high speed projectile?

Probably OEM spec'd 16 ohm coils. Late model stuff gets a little hard to predict. You'll even find some of those dual woofer cabinets loaded with EVM-15B's(during the Telex/EV years) as the original woofer load.

I think you'll be pretty hard pressed to find any documentation showing the 3154 offered as a raw driver in 16 ohms. Of course the same can be said of 4 and 32 ohm 288's, but they definitely exist.

I wonder if Bill can build his new ones(3154/3156) up with 4 or 16 ohm coils as an option.
