    The original was basically a 9844, but most used an aftermarket XO and woofers such as the Utah [328xxx date code] in this one. At least these are AlNiCo, the later ceramic ones I've been exposed to were typical junk R&R 'boomers'. The super tweeter is an owner add-on AFAIK. Dunno how long it lasted, they weren't popular here since the Altec distributor had a virtual 'stranglehold' on the local market until the ending of disco marked the end of the A7's 'reign'.

    The 12's are better than the 15 inch ones. I think thousands were made, quite a few still around. Best one I heard was the single 12 alnico.

    These predate disco by several years, late 60's I think. I remember buying used ones around '74.
