While surfing the Eminence website, I came across a new driver that they have to offer with a carbon film diaphragm. Its the 314 x-8. Comparable to a beryllium but at a fraction of the cost. I wish I could post a link. Look it up on the Eminence website.

Not all vegetables make good leaders.
looks interesting. 'TeXtreme' CF material.
And the diaphragm looks cool too. It has that CF bling bling. Haha
I've heard a few carbon fiber diaphragms.
IMHO somewhere between the PET type diaphragms and beryllium. I don't know if I would agree with comparable to beryllium.
Both are light and stiff.
The carbon fiber will flex differently- they are certainly going to be different in breakup mode.
On a 4 inch diaphragm, much of the perceived HF is from breakup.

Bowtie thanks for posting. One day i'm going to figure these computers out ! Old Guy, do you think that the width of the carbon has anything do do with the breakup modes ?
I think width, thickness and a ton of factors would be involved.
Wouldn't mind playing with a set, but not sure I want to drill my horns.

went to the website some days ago. what day is it now? the weave of the carbon fiber dictate the break up mode of the diaphragm. instead of one big resonance you get many smaller ones on the weave. hence the extended response. Can't wait till they try it out on smaller drivers.
