thinking
Sorry, but I don't have quite enough historical info under my belt yet to know what Don's method of EQ involved. You've certainly got my interest though. Any way to get a little more detail on it?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It has to do with EQ using either one or four omnidirectional microphones. The Eq uses 1/3 octave 27-band or parametric.
Back to Topic 1.
There's one theatre in VA using 3 Altec Simplex
Main and Altec surround.

It's easier to upgrade and less costly.
one can chouse a larger horn like MR-94 or MR 945
You can upgrade the 515 also. The Dolby digital soundtrack has a dynamic range of 104 DB and Fr response from 20hz to 20 khz.

Six A2's ?
That would be twelve 210 cabinets.......
Ooooooo.......... that's 8 more than I've got.
Wonder if it's loud.....
Are the wings on the cabinets ?
Seating for about 1000 ???
I've got a copy of an old Altec sales brochure around here somewhere that says an A2 system
is appropriate for theaters of not more than
2800 seats. I think it implies that they're
talking about two 210's per side. I'll see
if I can find it.

I read it the other day and it's for 1600 seats and over. I wonder if they reduced capacity with new seats. That would cut 400 seats.
Now the screen is 44 feet wide . The 6 A-2 with out the wings would come up to 40 feet.
Now there is always space behind the proscenium
and there is masking also on a screen.
They could probably have some wings open and others closed.
Also:
It could be a different combination of 2 A-2 in the center and one A-2 for each left and right side.

I'm almost in the center of Ohio. I'm gonna hit some of the small towns around this summer and do some pics of the systems. there's a lot of Altec still left in the little towns.

Dubbing theater in Hollywood by Ted Gomillion.
B Chain " It's complement of 5 Altec A2 speaker systems with sub-woofers and AB surround system made it a superb and accurate sound studio".
