    Question

I would like to know if there is any regulatory issues and or code to convert a 30 Ton Punch Press from relay control to PLC.
We converted a Brake to a Punch Press to punch holes in aluminum.

You may have to have the machine recertified by a testing laboratory such as Entela,Intertek Canada, Underwriters Laboratories or CSA or some other lab that is Accredited to do this.
Check with your local AHJ, they should be able to tell you what is required.
    Good luck

Something else that you may want to check with is the H&S people. When I have converted equipment from relay to PLC, etc the existing guarding systems and operating mechanism were no longer valid. Things like double palm buttons and light curtains need to be installed along with other safety related equipment.

Take a look as CSA Z142-02. It covers a lot about presses.
