    Question

I was wondering when the word "enclosed" was removed from 26-712(b) of the OESC. Whereas before, one duplex receptacle was required in only enclosed balconies, porches... now, it is required for all balconies, porches and such.

They removed the word "enclosed" from 26-712(b) in the Nineteenth (2002) Edition of the CEC.

Is the OESC your Provincial Code? In what ways does it differ from the national Code?

I should have referred to the CEC. But the OESC is the 'Ontario Electrical Safety Code', it is comprised of the CEC but with a few admendments specific to the province.

The numbering of the OESC sections are identical to those of the CEC.

    Lightbulb

The word "enclosed" was removed from Rule 26-702 (4) of the 1998 22nd edition of the OESC and was re-written in Rule 26-712 (b) in the 2002 23rd edition of the OESC.When is a balcony or porch classified as an enclosed location?

    Answer:
When they are totally enclosed but not finished in such a way that the walls meet the definition of finished wall. A balcony with only a railing is not considered enclosed for purposes of this rule.
