I'm seeing a lot of different color lumex comming out, I know blue 14/2 should be for AFCI circuits but what of the yellow 12/2 and orange 10/3 ? Could someone clarify the color coding for me. I want to run a 30amp/240v circuit for a wall oven...can I use the orange 10/3 ?

    Thanks.

    hello
I am not sure either, but I have herd that they are coming out with color coded staples too.
I beleive it is to make it easier to see a mistake (installations would become foolproof)I think

I'm curious too. I do not believe there is a CEC issue on loomex jacket color, as it is not a safety issue. It might be an AHJ issue, as different colored loomex would make it easier to do an inspection.

I have heard that when using lumex to wire electric heaters, it is a requirement in B.C. to use red.
Maybe someone from B.C. can verify this?

I have not heard that it is a requirement to use red loomex for heaters in BC. But the first time I ever saw red loomex was for electric base board heaters in a condo in BC.

It's also a great way to sell more wire to someone doing a small job. Instead of one or two partial rolls left over, you get many. You also need to keep lots of different types of wire on a jobsite or in your service truck. Hooray!

    Maybe BX will be next.
