    Hello,

Question, in residential housing in Ontario, what is the minimum amount of 15 amps circuits/breakers you are required to install in the main panel box per each floor in a house? Does it work based on square feet?

    Thanks

The service size calculation is not that simple, because only the basic load (lighting and convenience receptacles) is determined by the floor area.

There are usually other loads, such as heating, A/C, kitchen appliances, etc, to consider.

The calculation is laid out fairly well in 8-200 (single dwelling) or 8-202 (apartment) of the CEC.

Use 8-110 to determine the living area to use in your calculation, and 8-108 to determine the minimum number of breaker spaces required.

Remember that this is the minimum requirement for safety, and does not always provide a "good" installation, or capacity for future needs.

    Good luck.
    Ed
