    There was a question came up from the last message that was about whether or not a 12v system would even fall under code, I am very curious to hear some other opinions on this. My understanding is that it does, but my info comes from solar suppliers and building inspectors.

    In my opinion your installation is covered by the CEC.

    Section 16 covers Class 1 low voltage power circuits, which are any circuits of less than 30 volts that are supplied from a source limited to 1000 volt-amps. At 12 volts, that would be about 83 amps.

    Section 50 applies to any solar powered systems that are not covered by Section 16.

    I recommend that you consult with your local electrical inspection authority, and don't forget your insurance company.
