A lot of homeowners are installing exterior pot lights in their homes (under eve in soffit). These areas are subject to blowing snow in winter and dampness when it rains. My question is which wire is appropriate (NMD90 or MNW) or does it matter?

Table 19 says that we can use NMD 90 in concealed locations where it is dry or damp, this would seam to cover your situation. having installed hundreds of pot lights in similar locations I have not seen any problems or had any rejections from an inspector when using NMD 90. Although if you wanted to you could use NMWU cable if you think there maybe aproblem later but it would be more expensive.
