MONTREAL -- Fans booed during the playing of the U.S. national anthem before the New York Islanders' 6-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.

The sellout crowd of 21,273 at Bell Centre was asked to "show your support and respect for two great nations'' before the singing of the American and Canadian national anthems.

But a significant portion of the crowd booed throughout "The Star-Spangled Banner'' in an apparent display of their displeasure with the U.S.-led war against Iraq

and then they go out and cant even win the game...

I never said Canadians were dumb.....well politians..I happen to remember Americans booing the Canadian athem not too long ago at basketball, hockey games etc....

if I had to guess I would say at least 70 percent of Canadians speak some french.....at I would say 40 percent are fluent..
French was mandatory for us in highschool till grade 10....So we all know some.....I can get my ass thru Quebec and Montreal ....and I can say..

Which means i wasnt speeding..Last time I drove thru Quebec I got a 200 dollar speeding ticket...

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Saturday that fans booed during the Canadian national anthem before the Thrashers' game against the Senators in Atlanta.
