well, i wanted to put this on the thread amy started but you locked it amy...would just like to say i'm not a fan of locked threads, forums are supposed to be interactive
anyhooooooo
friendship....is probably one of the hardest things to find, to maintain, to nurture, to take along with us in our lives
because....well because life changes, we change, our commitments change, other people needing us comes into the picture, us needing our own time comes into it too
i've been reading on the boards recently, talk of the friendships 'lost' along the way...a concept i find interesting because i don't actually believe you lose friends, that would be ever so careless of us wouldn't it *w*...we grow towards, we grow apart...it's always about growth
friendship comes and goes, very few people are life-long friends and we're lucky if we find a few who become such to us...but instead of talking about these losses, i'd rather celebrate what was found in the time i had the friendship and acknowledge the contribution each of us made to the other
the biggest challenge is dealing with the time when the grip loosens and the person wants to move on...it's not a slap in the face, ever, to have a friend who wishes to move on...i look upon it more as the passage of friendship to another, because more often than not that's exactly what happens...that we walk a certain path at a certain time with someone...for a reason, and that reason doesn't have to be permanent
for me, a real friend is someone who has been a bridge for me, and who has allowed me to be their bridge, but who happily falls away once that passage has been negotiated and wishes me the best on my future journey
friendship is a lot like love...hell it IS love in so many ways....that the time does often come for a change, a departure, a separation and there's nothing better you can give someone you love than your very best wishes for happiness and the knowledge that if you are ever needed, you are there
oh and amy...yes, sometimes it IS hard to be your friend....and sometimes it's hard to be my friend....i can't think of anyone who makes it easy all the time...but there's nothing wrong with that...it's called being human *S*... and THAT is the biggest cause for celebration i can think of
a white flag indicates surrender...don't do that, just accept *S*
the end *L*

Fiona..your words ring so true and youve a wonderful way of putting it..i know im not the best friend in the world myself..i dont always give 100% sometimes i give very little and take more..but the people i call friends can always get my full 100% but there are times they need to hit me over the head with what they need..cuz i dont always see it..i think i used to see things better..but lately ive been too busy for much thinking and when i do think i cant remeber shit.. ..at any rate this isnt about me..its about friends in general..and how people feel..amy and i had a long talk last night..i think she and I can both say we dont always give our best..but you know what..we keep going..we know we are beyond everyday petty arguments..just as you and i are fiona as well..life is too short to go round mad..or hurt..I intend to live life the best way i know how..with all the people i hold dear...amy..fiona..i love you guys.. The thread was locked because it was such a feeling inside me....of saying it... and letting it out only. Wasn't to anyone here. Just a statement. A release.
I agree with locking...but it was for me. A lesson. It wasn't a dialogue.....
Im keeping all of you guys......

Friendship.......
what is friendship?
Well i think it is different for everyone, but made up of pretty much the same ingredients.
I like to think i am a good friend.......tho i DO know i fail at times on many levels.
When i can't be there enough for someone, when my world is upside down, etc....
I feel like I fail......but at the same time i let my friend know how much i care about them and will listen to them and help them as much as i can.
When my friends are sad, my heart is sad.
When something good happens for them....i feel on top of the world.
When i help a friend with a problem, and it has helped them.....it makes me value such a friendship.
I have been hurt, real bad in the past by a few "friends".
Without all the messy details, i just feel that, i was more sincere than they were.........and their lack of sincerity, and downright immaturity, left me crying, wondering,,,WHY?
These "friends", i chose to cut ties from, but it was because of how they made me not feel good about myself.
They live in the next state over from me, well 2 of them, and one lives here still.
I would be lying if i said i don't remember the hurt, and pain, but i know, i gotta let it go.....and i mean let it go.....for good.....
Friends have ups and downs, every friendship/marriage, relationship etc, is something that always needs work.
There prolly will be one party that is able to give a little more......but in the end it works.
Sometimes, we all need our space...and sometimes, we need the comfort of our friends....and how wonderful it is, to know you have people who care about you, and are there for you.......and ultimately call you "friend".

you said you
were my
friend,
upon whom i
could depend,
but when life
and i
began to disagree
like all my
friends,
you
deserted
me
.

I was sent this in an email...thought i would
share it on this topic...*S*
I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you..
Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.
Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful.
Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.
Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you.
Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.
REMEMBER: WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON.

Thank you Mrs Gator~
That was beautiful, and i am certain, that it helped people on many different levels.
It sure did for me.
~sings~...."ya gotta have friends............"......
Life is short, people come in and out of yer lives.....but it is the ones who leave footprints on yer heart, that we should truly remember.
Learned that from , Jazzy, awhile back,,,,and i think it is such a profound statement. [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
