Dad

So im driving to my classroom tonite...and I drive by this public access on a lake I used to vacation on with my family.


Anyway........ the urge to stop was wayyy to strong... so I just went and sat on the dock... was about 7:50 so the sun was setting and lakes are always pretty at dusk....

And out of the blue...I had this memory.. that just took my breath away. I've been driving by that lake...for 10 years...

It's amazing what your mind triggers..and what comes back...

I swear to God I could see my dad...see his clothes..smell him...could see him in my mind..holding his fishing rods..and wire basket full of sunnies..as he climbed outta the boat.... pretty much the same time of nite too....I was usually standing there..waiting to raid his pockets of change for pinball and candy at the store...........

Don't know why, but I cried like a baby.... Maybe I am just a lil blue tonite? or maybe I just looked across the lake and thought of the family renting that cabin...hoping they were enjoying themselves like we did.....

memories are soo special... I barely thought of that cabin... until tonite....

..Memories are priceless...there pictures in our minds that we capture and cherish for a lifetime..I still have my dad (a retired Air Force Kernel)..but he was gone most of my life traveling..I sure missed him but i keep what few memories i have stored in my heart...sometimes the best things in Life are Free..*S*

*cries * yeah i do...miss him so much....heard somethin the otherday tho...when we think we see our loved ones who have gone in our dreams it's their way of lettin us know they are still there...I dreamt about my daddy the other night...that he was with me when i had my oldest....and he's been gone since 1993.....what a good feelin*wipes tears*

That made me all teary eyed. Makes me glad to have my daddy, but makes me wish I knew my mom. She was killed when I was 17 months old. So I don't even have one memory of her.
