OMG..what a thread to stumble on..Ive a bookcase full of Recipe books..Ive way too many favourites but this one is simple and very delicious...

JU YOOK HAR KAU DOONG SHUN TONG (Chinese)
(Pork and Prawn ball soup with bamboo shoot)
    Serves 6
    Pork Balls
    500g (1lb) minced pork
    1/4 teaspoon finely grated ginger
    1 clove crushed garlic
    1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons finely chopped spring onions

    Prawn Balls
    500g (1lb) raw prawns
1/4 teaspoon finely grated fresh root ginger
    1/2 teaspoon salt
1 slice of soft white bread, crumbed
    1 egg yolk
    1 teaspoon corn flour

    Soup
6 cups of pork or chicken stock
3 tablespoons canned bamboo shoot, sliced
1 tablespoon Chinese wine or dry sherry
    3 teaspoons corn flour
    2 tablespoons cold water
    1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons finely chopped spring onions to garnish

    Cooking
Pork Balls: Combine all ingredients, form into balls the size of a large marble. Bring stock to the boli, drop in balls and bamboo shoot and return to boil. Simmer for 15 mins. Meanwhile make prawn balls.

Prawn Balls: Shell and de-vein prawns and chop very finely. Combine with all the other ingredients, form into balls the same size as the pork balls and drop into the simmering stock after the pork balls have cooked 15 mins. Return to simmering point, cook for a further 7 mins. Remove pork and prawn balls and set aside. (This recipe is not successful with cooked prawns)

Soup: Stir Chinese wine or dry sherry into the stock, then corn flour mixed with cold water. Boil, stirring until the soup is clear and slightly thickened, about 1 minute. Stir in sesame oil. Return pork and prawn balls to soup and serve, garnished with finely chopped spring onions...

I might make this for Sunday lunch... biggrin

    Cant resist another one... biggrin
    You need:
    skewers
    1 large bag of marshmallows
1 bag of firm eating jelly lollies/jubes

Skewer alternate marshmallow and lollies...best to start and finish with a lolly to keep everything in its place...

    Serve...

*LOL*...Its great for older kids parties and usually 3 skewers are enough...
