<font size="4" face="Tempus Sans ITC, Tahoma,sans-serif">sorry but that is entirely incorrect- our government is set up so that states have the first say- FEMA (which is kind of a joke) is NOT a first strike option- never was set up to be, they only have 2300 employees nation wide. Both the governor of LA and the Mayor of New O. were slow to accept and/or ask for help stating all was going to be ok....

now- Bush is a total northend of a southbound mule but the blame, if needed, would start with the state governments. That is the way it is set up.

hope ya'll took notes: there WILL be a quiz later...

I cant remember the day, but i was watching tv and a breaking news came on..Bush came on talkin about the New Orleans people just for 10 minutes and ALL of a sudden he started talkin about oil for the other remainin time..I know Bush can give a shit about people he is more worried about money and his oil...its his needs first...YOU think he would of rushed from his vaction when the hurricane hit, but he didnt he waited and waited to be honest with YOU Dave i am not too sure about the FEMA?...I just didnt understand either and i still dont understand why they are leaving dead bodies in the water...I think they should be picking it up as they see them to be honest with you.

BERLIN (AP) - A German military plane carrying 15 tons of military rations for survivors of Hurricane Katrina was sent back by U.S. authorities, officials said Saturday.

The plane was turned away Thursday because it did not have the required authorization, a German government spokesman said.

The spokesman, speaking on customary condition of anonymity, declined to comment on a report in the German news magazine Der Spiegel that U.S. authorities refused the delivery on the grounds that the NATO military rations could carry mad cow disease.

The spokesman said U.S. authorities had since given approval for future aid flights, but it was unclear whether the German military would try again to deliver the rations.

Since Hurricane Katrina struck the United States, many international donors have complained of frustration that bureaucratic entanglements have hindered shipments to the United States.

A U.S. Embassy official, who agreed to discuss the matter only if not quoted by name, blamed the German flight's rejection on temporary technical and logistical problems that have accompanied recovery operations in the devastated region.

German military planes have flown several loads of rations to the Gulf Coast. Berlin is also sending teams equipped with high-capacity pumps to help clear floodwaters.

I cant wait until these "hearings" start...
I know from someone who was called to be deployed
to New Orleans that the governer and the mayor
refused help from FEMA...Dyls cousin Rob was
deployed on Sunday and they were sent to an army
base (i think) in another area because they were
NOT allowed to set up in Louisianna....their
help was refused by the state level.....they
could have been there monday morning to help
evacuate as soon as the flood waters started but
because they were not allowed to set up, it took
them until tuesday or wednesday to even get there...because of the hurricane damage
and when they did get there, there were problems..
as I stated before, Robs
call to his mom ended with someone yelling in
the background, grab the tear gas and get the
hell outta here......just what a mom wants to
hear when her son is there TRYING to help...

I am not saying Bush is innocent...I say we have
him booted out of office...but the blame isnt
with him alone...he even signed paperwork before
he went on vacation giving FEMA the authority
to take over in case of disaster...and yes FEMA
was a little bit slow at responding...but if the
state government would have allowed them to set
up in their state, they could have been there
2 days sooner than they were....

I know the red tape involved with disaster situations....
being a firefighter, you learn these things...you
cant do this you cant do that until the governer
mayor or whatever high class ass is in charge tells
you to do it......kinda ties your hands when you
are a responder...and it is frustrating as hell..
you are there, you are able, you see people suffering,
but if you dont have the permission, you can be
sued.......and if you get hurt helping these
people, your workmens comp insurance with the
fire company will not cover you because you didnt
have high class ass permission!

To the countries that have offered us the needed
help and resources.....I say a heartfelt THANK YOU!
Our country has screwed with so many people with
Bush in charge, I am actually shocked that people
are still willing to help us! With Bush in charge
this country is slowly falling.......I am so glad
I have seen the err in my ways and changed my
voting to Democrat and I am so glad that I did
NOT vote for Bush....

CG and Amanda...if you want to donate...give to
the Salvation Army.........it will get to where
it is to go.....Red Cross just sucks...and hopefully
after this disaster they will change their ways
of handling things...they are there long enough
for air time and they are gone....they dont stick
it out for the long run....and I am so glad the
people of Florida are speaking out against them..
Dyl and Rob both know first hand the shit they
pull...they come in gung ho, get on TV and leave
people sitting with no help at all.....and I have
seen this brought up on TV interviews the past
2 weeks...Red Cross officials being asked if they
were going to stay until the end or leave like
they did in Florida during Andrew....

Being a former firefighter, I have been watching
as much of this as I can on TV...maybe too much..
but I know that volunteers get screwed in one way
or another....because of bullshit from state and
federel government...and if there is some way I
can help, God knows I will do what I can...and
raising money for flood buckets and health kits
with my kids is one way I can help even though
I am bogged down with everything else going on
in my life.....hell, I would rather be there..
but I cant financially...I have no money here
right now...and I have to take care of my kids..
because if I volunteer to go down there, I lose
whatever I have now...no help for the volunteers..
who are willing to give up their time and part of
their life to help.....no money for their families...
no help whatsoever....

Sorry I am being long winded...I have so many
emotions running through me right now...being
involved with helping people in the past makes
me want to be there helping now, but my hands are
tied....and that adds to my frustration!

ONe more thing that adds to the frustration...
go to my board and read my thread Mississippi
screwed again.......all I can say is ARGH!

*shuts up now*L* to ya all for listening
to me *L*
