About GhostOfThePlain
Biography:
"Some people hear their own inner voices with great clearness and they live by what they hear. Such people become crazy, or they become legends." -One Stab, from 'Legends of the Fall'

There is an old Cree legend that says that when a man and a beast shed each other's blood, each can take a part of the other into themselves.

This was how the Cree came to find a man, near death, the corpse of an old and mighty alpha next to him.

Why the two of them fought, the Cree medicine man never knew. He only knew that it was a mighty battle, and the old wolf had died a good death.

The man was soaked in the old wolf's blood, as was the wolf in the man's. The old healer worked long over the night to keep the man alive, for it was clear the spirit of the old Alpha had entered the man and fought to cling to life with him.

It was a week before the fever left the man and he finally opened his eyes to find the old man siting beside him, watching over his body.

The gunslinger himself did not remember the battle. His guns he had with him, and yet the fight had been without them. Both warriors had fought bravely, that much he knew. The old man that had healed him told him things would never be the same for him, and the gunslinger was not sure what he meant.

He would find out come the night of the full moon.

After the first time, he went back to the old man, who explained things for him. The gunslinger had long been a lone drifter, often in the lands of various tribes, and had taken the time to learn their languages. By the time he talked to the medicine man, he could feel the changes.

Strength.

Speed.

Vitality.

Ferocity.

Sight and senses enhanced to a degree that was almost painful.

It took a long time for him to learn to control the animal. To summon the animal when needed, to bring the man back when it was required. To overcome the madness of the full moon, though it still has its sway.

But learn he did.

When the old man died, the gunslinger was at his side, and it was then that the healer granted him a last gift. At his passing, he touched the gunslinger - still young in appearance, thanks to the wolf's blood flowing strong in his veins - and passed on the gift of his powers. It was the only way for the old man to live on, he told the gunslinger. He was the last of his line.

The Ghost left that place behind and wandered.

Every now and again, a tribe would tell of a grey, ghostly figure of a wolf. It was whispered that the presence of the wolf so near brought good fortune, for whenever the Ghost of the Plain was seen, good things seemed to follow- a plentiful hunt and harvest, a sick man healed, a healthy child born.
