He looks nice enough, at first glance.

Don't be fooled by appearances.

He's a nice enough man, all right, but under the thin veneer of social respectability and charming good looks is a man as hard as the drop-forged, cold steel of a Colt .45 revolver.

On the outside, a ready smile for everyone, dark, deep eyes that seem warm and welcoming, even friendly, with a smooth baritone voice and an easy Southern accent that drawls lazily through the air, conjuring up images of a good ol' cowboy with an easy manner that one could see perched on a fence in the rosy red glow of the evening, having a laugh after the day's chores are done.

A closer look will reveal the hardened, jaded man beneath. One that has been betrayed one too many times, been kicked when he was down, been turned out from those that he had trusted and served with pride and honor and turned from the path of justice, down a darker path.

Oh, he would still work for the law, but rather than working for another, he would take another path, one with less restrictions, less chance of being betrayed...

...and most importantly, one with no authority but his own.

Now he hunts the criminals for money, a bounty hunter.

Tracking down men as he once did, but now unhindered by 'proper procedures' that he has become disenchanted with, he makes his living dragging fugitives to justice.

They may not always make it there conscious.

They may not even make it there alive.

But it doesn't matter to him anymore.

All that matters to him now is that he gets paid.
