Wise County on a hour and a half delay.

I seriously doubt it... here in Coeburn the snow keeps melting away.

The sun is still out, and the roads are clear as can be.

Last night, the roads were completely iced over and almost completely snow-covered. Today, they're extremely clear, and even the snow on the side of the road is beginning to melt away completely.

Unless other places are in bad shape, I'd say a 90 minute delay is the most we'll be seeing.

How's it looking in Wise? How about Big Stone Gap?

Yeah, you're right.. never thought about those, and the road in front of my house is pretty well traveled..

In some of the more shadier spots, there's still sopme snow on the road, sun is just now peepin out up here though, so on the ground we've got a good 5-6 inches still

At my house there is still about 4 inches. I really hope we dont have school.

I was all through Wise, Russell, and part of Scott today and all the roads were clear.

The kiddies only think about today, elp. You know that.

Maybe we have important things we need to finish outside of school, or have tests that we don't want to take, or anything of that matter?

My personal preference is to stay indoors in weather like thise, and I always felt I might as well be at school. Just my opinion.

Most student don't realize school is supposed to end in May. Think of it: getting out on time, rather than mid-June (as we did most of my high school years).

You're definitely right about that, but having a few extra days to study for a test is never a bad thing.

I'd rather be given better study opportunities and more time for other activities with the end result of getting out of school later as opposed to getting out earlier and having to look back and regret missed opportunities, or opportunities that simply weren't there.

my yard looks like it just snowed, most the main roads look fine through BSG but i haven't been out of my house all day. They will probaly wait until the morning to see what the roads have done. I'd if it gets in the 20's like they said the roads will freeze over and they will cancel school

Hard to imagine alot of road freezeover with all the salt on the road.

I never even considered putting salt into the picture... but yeah, as much salt as they were putting out yesterday, I highly doubt we'll be seeing much ice on the roads.

MECC's on a 2 hour delay... but i seriously doubt ya'll will be outta school, the roads in BSG are crystal clear

tomorrow high is 50 and weds. is close to 60

it isn't going to matter what Big Stone looks like. they are on Wise County School System. It could be really bad back in Pound or in Coeburn and they don't close just one school. they close the whole system. It may be crystal clear in BSG but that has little to do with the whole of Wise Co. Schools if you catch what I mean. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img].

True, any other day they were out this year BSG had clear roads

ah yeah that's right they tried to pass that but never did, each day you miss you have to make up now

So what day do the Wise County students get out this year now?

I think it is May 19 now.

Yeah it's the 19th I believe. A teacher told us. It'd be nice to graduate in the middle of May. I think last year it was june 1 when we got out.
