Witt sold their GM stake to MorganMcClure a year or more ago.
Yeah, they have just been a Subaru dealer for over a year now.
I have noticed that there are only used cars down there now and haven't really seen too many stirring around down there over the past couple of days.
I didnt look like they even had any indoors the the other day.
That makes no sense at all. Where is your info? Johnson's is next I suppose. Then Turner's.
GM CEO Rick Wagoner said in a brief interview that the automaker has fine-tuned its dealer network for two decades and will continue to "work proactively" to find the right balance in every market.
Robby Bennett Jr. says the family-owned Chevrolet, Buick and Pontiac dealership in Cheraw, S.C., had the worst year in its 80-year history in 2005 because of the feast or famine pricing. GM would be wise to worry about making cars and let dealers find innovative ways to price and sell them, he says. "They need to get out of our retail side."
(That's been a fairly common direction there Burrhead--for both Ford and GM)
Around here that is all they are. I guess we'll have to order from a catalog. Dang, I'm sorry elp and Freddy.
GM isn't pulling out of small dealerships only non-productive small dealerships. Witt's sales volume had been steadily dropping for the last 10 years especially since Joe DePriest left. They had been givin many opportunities and tons of support from GM to turn things around and Wally wasn't willing to do what GM had told them to do and relocate out of downtown and build a new store near the highway, very poor management was the downfall of Witt's. Johnson's and Turner's still do a high volume of sales in relation to the market they are in (Dickenson County).
I wouldn't be surprised to see Clinch Motors having a new dealership within the next year or so now that Morgan-McClure owns it as well.
Today's Coalfield has reported that Witts has closed.

I hate that they have decided to shut down, they are all my friends.
I'm a little upset, where do I take my Subaru now, Kingsport.

Morgan McClure isn't a Subaru dealer, but they can do warranty work on Subaru's even though they're a GM dealer. That's where I'm going to start taking mine, and where Charlie Pike from Witt's suggest I start going.
thanks for that info
Auto World in BSG used to be a Subaru dealer...I think they still are.
Auto World deals with Suzuki's but I don't think Subaru
Suzuki is their new lot...but if I'm not mistaken they still deal in Subaru as well.
they have dealt with suzuki for at least 4 years. I looked at them when I had my Intreped down there for some work and that was around 4 years ago and everything Suzuki was of the UGLY type.
