Bucky Covington tonight
http://www.wisecountychamber.org/va-ky_fair.htm
Later this week:
Jason Michael Carroll
Confederate Railroad
thanks
Do you still have to pay extra for the concerts. I like confederate railroad.
not for confederate railroad no
$20 for ol' Bucky
$20 for Jason Michael Carroll
perfect for a small-time fair, in a small town during a recession.
The only act of the 3 that's worth a paid ticket is free...

Truer words were never spoken. Any new rides or anything this year. Still hard to get use to the fair right now. With the popularity of MMA they should shedules a fight night.
I still can't believe they moved the thing to June.
I wouldn't listen to any of them for free, hell, it would actually take someone paying me to watch or listen to any of those three. Cuntry music sucks!
What was the reasoning for moving the fair to the Spring ?
I was told it had to do with the rides and it was cheaper to get them in June vs August which was peak fair season.
i wondered why they moved it to spring myself, it used to be one week before school started back am i right? now it's the week after schools out
Yeah, it was kinda the end of summer / kick off the new school year gathering but now it sucks because all the normal summer events, at least in Norton, you have the fair this week and if I am not mistaken the Best Friends Festival the next. Too many all at the same time....
The wife and I went to the fair on Monday to watch the Demolition Derby. It was very entertaining as usual, but the rest of the fair is terrible. Same old shitty rides and same old shitty games. Nothing new to speak of except the quarter mouse game is now the 50 cent mouse game.

Go for Orange.
I won it on my first try Monday.
Kids are out. Vacation is planned. Lets put the fair now. I dont get it.
I used to at least be back from vacation and had some money to spend. Im not taking a chance wasting vacation money on the fair.
Confederate Railroad pwns. I doubt I'll see them there tho.
A couple of my family members went early to get seats for the Bucky Covington concert anticipating it was going to be packed. Gates opened I think at 3:00, they got there around 6:30 hoping to find a seat and there were literally 3 people in the stands. They said it barely got half full.
Charge to much for that non sense, same deal last year when that Currington guy came.

LOL the whole outside world will talk about Appalachia and traditions and we have a August fair tradition. And whatever. Nobody gives a [censored]. We got hay to get up. College kids are gone, gardens to plant. This place is dead. Nice planning you morons.
You haven't listened to the right kind of country UTVOLS2.....I can hook you up.
i heard one reason was the weather the other reason was the rides
Are the rides and games still James H. Drew? The change of dates might be b/c of the old saying, Bigger name on the other line....
Blue and I will probably go back Saturday just b/c my nephews ride in the horse show but other than that I couldn't care less. The demo derby was fun as always... on Mon. some rides weren't even put together and the bathrooms don't even work they now have portable toliets in their place.
The toilets haven't worked there in at least 3 years. I remember when the concerts were free. Yeah, the stand were only about half full for the concert, but why pay 20 dollars to go to an outside concert when you can just stand outside the gate and listen to it for free. That is what most everyon was doing last night......standing and listening for free. There were twice as many standing outside listening for free and there were who paid to get in.

None of this new country stuff I hope, what do you have my friend, I am willing to try it out. What are you doing up at 1:35 in the morning.
The only thing I miss about cable television is when INTV or channel 37 I guess is what it used to be called would set up the camera at the fair and you could watch people go buy and talk into the camera. Now that is high quality entertainment, it would provide endless laughter which normally would result in rolling around on the floor holding yourself becuase you are about to piss your pants.
Do they still do this?

It was just about the money. The same people/vendors/entertainers can charge more $ in high-demand periods (which August is). June is a cheaper month to operate in.
The waning interest in the fair means less money coming, less ability to keep the same time period, and certainly less $ for concerts.
It's now in downward spiral...

don't know if it is up your alley or not but if you are wanting to try some new alternative country listen to a little Cross Canadian Ragweed. the are very southern rockish a lot of the times and they even cover Ted Nugent's Strangle Hold on a disc (hidden track)and they also have a song called DimeBag in tribute to Dimebag and also i think Kurt Cobain. One of my fav songs by them is 17, a song about leaving town but when you come back home everyone still expects you to be the same person as you were when you were 17, good or bad. I can hook you up if you want a listen

Someone finally noticed the folks that put some of the rides together.
so rob and zach are both gonna be ridin?
Robbie isn't riding this year but Zachary is going to. Blue and I will be there. We watched both of the boys ride last year at the fair and they did really well. Maybe this year Blue and I will have a better understanding of how it all works b/c last year we were clueless about the categories like pacing, racking, etc.
anybody go see the motocross race? shitty track, but was a helluva turnout
Yep sure did.. My brother won!! woohoo!!
The turnout wasn't that big. It's down from what it has been in past years.
The Confederate Railroad concert had a larger draw than the Bucky Covington and Jason Michael Carroll concert..
Confederate Railroad absolutely rocked.
