Third place? How do you figure? At the time Kecev joined the team, TS was tied for first place with a 3-0 record. In that third win, they lost their 2 for the season with a broken nose. Kecev started school the following week. They won their next game (@ Castlewood) with Kecev coming off the bench. They lost their next game (vs. Rye Cove).

TS was never in third. The lowest they got in the standings was a tie for second after losing to Castlewood at home.

Chesterfield Community vs. Clarke County. Regions A and C got shut out of the Final Four.

That game should start around 4:30 on Thursday afternoon. Followed by the Gate City/Floyd Co. game. Twin Springs and Twin Valley should tip around 7:45 Thursday night.

Kecev no doubt has helped Twin Springs get to the state championship. Love it or hate it. They are there.

Conversely, some would say that Twin Valley would not be in the state championship game if Goodman had not transferred to Twin Valley.

Maybe all the folks whining about transfers and exchange students should take note.

On a more interesting note, I checked the VHSL records and found that only two Region D teams have won state championships in boys basketball in the last 25 years. In fact, only Twin Springs, Council, and Pound have been to the championship game in the same time frame, though Gate City made an appearance as a AA team in 1999.

That's probably true also. But I think it's been stated many times that Goodman lived in the TV school district and was at Council because his dad was coach. When dad left he went to the school in whose district he lived. I have no beef with that.

I don't think anyone can fault Rick or Kent from transferring. I think I commented one before that I don't believe there was ever anything preventing Kent from playing at Twin Valley other than his preference to be at Council with his dad.

I don't have a problem with Goodman playing at Twin Valley, and I don't have a problem with Kecev playing for Twin Springs.

But I don't think either team would be in the state championship picture without them.

Oh I don't have a problem with transfers. All schools get them. The year our basketball team was in the state semi's we had two transfers starting on our team, one was from Castlewood, the other was from Richlands, but both kids played their entire varsity careers at Honaker, one came to Honaker in his second year in 8th grade from St. Paul(but he lives in Castlewood like right next to the school) and the other started out in 8th grade. To a degree, I have some what of a problem with Kent moving to Twin Valley. He made the choice to go to Council instead of Twin Valley but let's face it; if Council still had the talent this year that they've had the past several years and Twin Valley has been the "so so" team they've been up until this season, Kent would probably still be at Council. I could be wrong, but I think the talent and potential to win a state title that TV has this year influenced Kent's move. But then again, I could be completely wrong.

you would be...his dad had said that he was gonna step down and then take a job at TV so that he could be closer to home and Kent didnt see any reason to drive all the way to council if his dad wasnt even gonna be coaching...council would have been very good this year had kent stayed...so you really cant argue that point too much

How do I figure this?? Sure TS was tied for first place with a 3-0 record but who had they played?? St. Paul, Ervinton, and Thomas Walker.. They could not have beat C'wood or Cove without Kecev..
