so by what you are saying is that drag racing would be a sport, lawn mower racing, tractor pulls, monster trucks, and go karting
all im looking for is the physical (not cerebral or sensory) skills it takes in NASCAR that would qualify them as athletes
it could not be expressed so they went to arguments like "well you couldnt do it"...uhh no sh*t...i cant do a lot of things, but the fact i cant do them doesnt make them sports

All I am looking for are the physical skills it takes in golf that would qualify them as athletes. Or for that matter baseball how musch more physical than cerebral/mental is this sport.

I never said anything about fishing being a sport. I don't see it being any less of a sport than golf, actually I am more active fishing than I am golfing.

The endurance it takes.
The strength it takes
two physical skills
what about volleyball or swimming? are they sports. you don't do much running, sure volleyball you move a lot but you don't run up and down a court or field and you don't run at all in swimming.
Endurance yes but a lot of vision (cerebral or sensory). Hey is Tennis a true sport?

golf is a game to me...not a sport
baseball requires running, throwing, jumping at times if you're an outfielder

well then i will tell you...according to webster:
sportn) 1.an amusing or interesting pastime, sometimes involving competition: a diversion.
athleten) one who participates in competitive sports.
by those definitions both chess and fishing would also fit within the parameters of being considered a sport. nascar racing is WELL within those definitive parameters. the argument is silly to begin with.
