Re: Predictions
JIB has much more important games ahead in the coming weeks. In the long run, a W or an L in this game is not nearly as important. The district has been won and the Raiders already have a playoff spot secured.
I would use the starters very sparingly in this game and let some injuries heal.

Re: Predictions
Yeah both teams are playing for their own reason, I think it will be a great fun game to wacth.

Re: Predictions
Wouldn't it help pv if gate city lost to norton. If they win both pv and lebanon will get the same amout of extra points because we both have beat them, if burton wins we get 1 pt for the win and lebanon will get nothing right?

PV is in, but I think a win by GC boosts their chances of that #1 seed big time. They will get a lot of rider points from JIB due to them being 9-1 if that is the case. Yes a win helps both Lebanon and PV, but that a huge number of points falling GC's way if they end up with a W.

Re: Predictions
I think the win is equally important to Burton at this point, Jimbo knows his run of quality athletes is very close to being over, they are comming in with a 19 game regular season win streak, oh and lets not forget the 55-6 beating they put on Gate City last year.
Going into the playoffs you do not want a defeat laying our the playes minds, espically when giving the chance Gate City will do all they can to get back the embarrasment they substained at norton last year. If you don't think so see all the post from the clintwood game this year.

Re: Predictions
Well, I have no doubt that GC would like to "even the score" a bit with Norton.
But for Norton, I think this is one of the situations where you have to weigh the costs. Do you play your starters in this game, and risk more injuries? Or do you look at the bigger picture and give your team a chance to heal? Win or lose, Norton is still in the Region D playoffs. Going into the Region D as 10-0 is great, but going in with a team who is less than 100% leaves Norton very vulnerable.

Re: Predictions
Ugh...that was a nasty beating we took from JIB last year.
Last year was horrible-thats the first time I ever heard a GC football player say "I don't care, we're going to lose". They did, Gate City was a beat up team and Gate City layed down. I didn't go, I was planing to but after I heard that I just didn't.

Re: Predictions
GC, if healthy, will control the game and beat Burton by a TD. All they need to do is watch the JIB/CW game, learn from it, and get a few pointers from Phil.

Re: Predictions
2006 wasn't GC's year for football! But, it's good to see the team re-bounding.
I was kind of surprised to see Tihlee playing this year with the opportunity that GC has in basketball.
