I would agree with that if there weren't mixed (D1/D2) districts.

Re: Predictions
When they split Group A into 2 parts, they screwed up the whole thing. That's why I included combining them back together to make 1. If in that format, a State title is a pipe dream to most, so be it. It worked for years.

Re: Predictions
If the districts were fair I'd go along with that but what would be the point of watching the playoffs? The LPD champ vs. the BDD champ in football? How many times the BDD Champ going to win that one, or how about the classic Cumberland District vs. the Clinch Mountain District? I dont see that one being a ball game very often either.

Re: Predictions
At one time there were 3 districts in Region D. #1 seed got a bye while the other 2 played for the right to play em. I don't see a problem with it. Settles the matter in a hurry. The cream rises to the top in that scanario.

Re: Predictions
I wouldn't have a problem with it, honestly though do you see anybody outisde the LPD really competing with Norton though this season? Make for a dull playoff.

So, this is high school football. More about the competition, less about the $$ (at least until the VH$L gets involved).

Re: Predictions
In the old format, 99% of the time it was the LPD champ representing anyways. Folks whine about good teams not making the playoffs..but I can remember the 84 PV team was 8-2 and missed the playoffs because of losses to Pound and Clintwood...go figure.

Re: Predictions
I wouldn't have a problem with it, be like it is now though you have several teams getting in on a free pass due to their district being so weak.
-
Re: Predictions
Under that format every team in the LPD except Pound, Coeburn and Ervinton won a title. So, it was fair enough then. And beofre you guys go haywire, Ervinton was an LPD team until the mid 80s.

Re: Predictions
if D1 and D2 were combined I would be all for only district champs making the playoffs BUT that format would involve evening the districts and since all of the LPD teams are in love with each other and the cumberland teams are scared of the rest of the region it would be a hard sell in a 5-6A system that would be an excellent setup
