Very disappointed in some GC fans tonight

sat around some fans who thought the refs gave the game to Gretna (down 26 at the time) and once they had exhausted that cry, they stooped to actually calling the kids from Gretna "ni**ers"

just a hideous display, and i'm just as ashamed that others around them thought it was funny and/or acceptable

Gretna was good, and I think we can agree that Gate City overachieved this season and had a great year...there is no place in athletics for trying to demean the kids from another school...simply pathetic and classless

on a side note, it is much more of a shame because 98% of Gate City fans are well-educated and genuinely nice people, but they get overshadowed by these pathetic losers, grown adults (actually a FEMALE who yelled the insult) living vicariously through high school kids...grow up

Everyone has them Drew. Unfortunately, and I don't know why this is, it seems that GC has a more vocal and more noticable bunch. I'm not saying that they have anymore than anyone else, but they've got some who it seems want to show you and everyone how much of an ass hole they can be. It really stinks for the 98% of the good folks that attend the games, when you mention it to some who are in the 98% though they get defensive and say that it's that way with everyone or that you're making it up. The 98% need to take control and make sure that these losers are shown to the gates then you won't have tons of threads on here and on Va Preps like the one about GW needing to have a police escort for their kids. JMO, don't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers.

Great season by the Devils. Unfortunately, they came up a game short like my team. There's always next season.

I actually was dreading the posts or comments from a few people, who would be calling for the removal of Colobro, who would somehow blame him for not having the team ready or something due to the passing of his brother.

I know I will jump Gate City sometimes, but I can be honest and say that there are some great people there, some dynamite fans. It just seems like their idiots are more idiotic than other peoples idiots (or just seem to reinforce each other more).

I wish GC would have had a better showing. I truthfully do. I know that it is a small minority of their fans who are horrible, and I guess I just wish the good fans would push for something to be done, because that small handful is a horrible representation of GC. We're all normally judged by our worst.

The horns, the loudness, the cowbells, why when its against us, it will drive me crazy but I have no problem with that and I don't think most people do. It's part of the game. Adults acting like horses butts should not be.

Anyhow, thanks to the GC fans who were at the game early and supported Clintwood.

i told someone sitting next to me at the time that I felt ashamed to tell anyone I was from Gate City had they heard that display...just very disappointing

after thinking about it though, I'm proud to be from GC, and I couldn't imagine playing high school sports anywhere else...just can't stand uneducated close-minded backwards rednecks becoming the voice for good honest hard-working people

just to be fair, it was also disappointing to see the coaches of Gretna taunting the GC fans before the game had even started...not much sportmanship shown tonight from either side

Have had to deal with a lot of ignorance at Lee this year too in the stands and it's shifted to basketball from football, as I'm sure almost every other school has too. Can't enjoy a game as much anymore. Always a few who just HAVE to ruin it for the rest.
