I think that's a silly unspoken rule. That list of guys that aren't up there ought to be several spots ahead of Hansbrough, like Wallace & Stackhouse just to start.

i agree
while not a fan of UNC......those two were among the best college players i remember during that time
hell i remember watching the philly news in the mornings before school and seeing highlights of rasheed in HS out there
that was part of the intrigue because i didnt ever remember seeing a high school kid get that kind of hype back then.......then seeing him play at UNC was something special
i dont care what award anybody wins.......rasheed should be at the top of the list and stackhouse a very close second.......and everybody else just sitting behind them waiting their turn

Re: Hansbrough
Who all from UNC has had their jersey retired?

Re: Hansbrough
The rule for jersey retirement at UNC is as follows:
For a North Carolina men's player to have his jersey retired, he must win at least one of six national player of the year awards: The Associated Press, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Sporting News, the Wooden Award and the Naismith Award. --courtesy ESPN
The rule for name in the rafter is as follows:
For a North Carolina men's player to have his jersey number in the rafter he was a first-team All-American, the most valuable player of an NCAA championship team, or any member of a gold-medal-winning Olympic squad. -- courtesy cstv.com

Re: Hansbrough
Phil Ford says hello when it comes to the best UNC players of all time.

Re: Hansbrough
There are seven retired jerseys: Jack Cobb, George Glamack (20), Lennie Rosenbluth (10), Phil Ford (12), James Worthy (52), Michael Jordan (23), and Antawn Jamison (33). Players who are consensus National Players of the Year have their jerseys retired.
