In my opinion I agree, Burton should play schools with similar enrollments, like they do (Div. 1). But, with that being said, I would like to see them go out and pick a quality out of district opponent like a radford, george wythe, etc. Just for the simple reason of seeing where they stand against these teams. I think JI Burton is very solid possibly the best team in the "old region d" and would definitely only benefit from a game like that. I would just like to see them tested against someone other than a district opponent. I also realize scheduling is sometimes a problem and doing this isn't always possible.

Strength of schedule means ALOT come playoff time. Look at any state Champion (not runner up) and see who they played outside of there district. using old examples mixed with new ones here, PV- Richlands, Radofrd, Lee, Gatecity. All at that time double A except Radford who was D2 A. Appy- Sulivan north, Gatecity, Daniel Boone, and others. Gatecity- Bluefield, Richlands, Sullivan South, Powell Valley.
Playing up makes your team better when you face eastcoast playoff teams. You have to play quality opponents to get better.
Another example is JJ Kelly. They always played weak teams and never did good because of that reason. JJ Kelly was 5 and 0 a couple years ago when pv went up there and beat them 12 ot 0 but JJ Kelly had beat Ryecove, castlewood, twinsprings, thomas walker, and some small ky school. You play down and beat weak teams you dont learn nothing, you play up and lose close games to good teams you learn how to win in certain situations.
Just my opinion but as mentioned eariler Union has the better D and JIB has the better offense so that says to me that this will be a tight game. Union does have a good solid D and a ball controll offense, which makes it hard for the other team to score when they dont have the ball, but JIB's offense is quick and solid. IMO should be the only game that JIB has left to worry about. Union is one of the best conditioned teams which seems to be helping them more than anything else to win last minute games. JIB is good conditioned too so IMO this will be one good game

looks about right to me. like I said we graduate about 55 each year. Went to my nieces graduation at Haysi this year and they graduated about 70. I did not know they were that much bigger than us.

Burton's enrollment for 2011 according to newspaper is 262. Haysi was at 285. Haysi and all dickenson county enrollments have declined in the past ten years. These numbers are grades 9-12.
