Watched the original Swedish version of " The Girl Who Played w/ Fire " . Different actors and not the same big budget Hollywood remake of Dragon Tattoo BUT a very good movie as well . Had to watch w/ subtitles but I prefer that over out of sync lips the whole movie . Going to rent Kicked the Hornets Nest tonight to finish out the trilogy .

    Re: Last movie you watched

The Swedish movies make you assume more about the relationship between Mikael and Lisbeth than the American version of Dragon Tattoo does. The American version puts it right out there on main street b/c apparently Rooney Mara was dying to do soft porn. No wonder Daniel Craig said he was uncomfortable w/those scenes. I won't ever complain about T&A in a movie, but the Swedish version did it better and classier, I think...made the relationship between Mikael and Lisbeth more intense.

I'm partial to the Swedish versions. They have a better overall feel, IMO, and they don't insult the intelligence of the viewer. The American version tends to smack you in the face with stuff. You really couldn't call the ending of the movie in the Swedish version as the reveal was kept until way at the end. If you have half-a-brain, and haven't read the books, the American version gives the ending away several times.

That being said--the American version was pretty damn good on it's own. But when you start comparing it to the Swedish versions and the books, it doesn't measure up as well. My suggestion: save your dough, watch the Swedish versions on Netflix, and enjoy. Or read the books...either one.

I tried watching the Swedish GWTDT a few months ago and the language threw me off so much I couldnt follow the text. Its a crazy sounding mouthful thats hard to ignore.

I can understand that. I've actually watched thru all 3 Swedish versions 2x just to pick up stuff I didn't the first time thru. But, language/subtitles aside, I just think the Swedes got it more right than the Americans did here...at least so far. Maybe they can do better with "Fire" and "Hornets Nest". Steig Larrson's books were so good though, as long as you don't completely disregard his text in the screenplay, it's hard to mess up making a movie out of them.

Saw the movie this evening. Liked it. I had no major issues. Some changes from the book but it was a good watch.

MI4 - Ghost Protocol - Best yet. Cruise still plays Ethan Hunt perfectly. Adding Jeremy Renner was a great decision. Looking forward to seeing him as Hawkeye and the new Bourne.

The Grey - Not Liam's best acting gig or the rest of the cast for that matter . Not a bad movie but wait til it comes out on dvd and save some money . Action is pretty decent and I'm a sucker for "beating the odds" kind of movies but still a tad disappointing . If you like the F-word you'll get one about every 45 seconds on the average . 161 total during the movie .

Warrior - wasn't a bad movie but I don't think it should have as high of a rating on IMDB it has. Plus reputation it has made me expect something that I would be blown away by. I liked it but didn't think it was fantastic or anything

Drive - didn't really like this. didn't hate it but expected more with the praise it had gotten
