Could be true, but only time will tell.
As of now it's looking more and more like an overly-expensive piece of junk.

And you're guessing that logic on....
You just want the joystick to simulate your hand motion
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.
* Blu-Ray Problems
* Pricing
* Performance Problems (Hard to program for; Cell processor gives problems)
* No "Wow" Factor
* Crappy Games
* Copy-Cat ("Me Too!") Methods
(Motion sensors = Wiimote
Online "Entitlements" = 360 XBOX Live "Achievements"
Downloadable Genesis/Turbo Grafx games = Wii downloadable NES/SNES/N64 games)
(All of which are clearly inferior to the designs they copied.)
It's just a very unimpressive system.
The Playstation was a great system, yes.
The Playstation 2 was a VERY good system, yes.
But the Playstation 3 looks very lackluster IMO.
I gotta give it to Sony. They can really hook the fans..

To all of you who think there are problems with the PS3, go ahead and believe what you will. This is only, and I repeat ONLY, a ploy by Sony to drive up demand for the PS3 before the launch date to ensure massive sales when the systems finally reach stores en masse. Any of you remember when the PS2 came out? Same exact thing.

yeh... but the very first runs of PS2's had problems.. they would read some discs... trust me i had one... i had to send it back to sony 5 times.. then they finally gave up and gave me a refurbished system.. i still love the PS2 and the support i got from sony though.. and i plan on pickin up a PS3 as soon as possible... just saying.. they said they had some problems with the ps2 and alot of them did... so i wouldnt doubt the ps3 will either
The only problems I remember the PS2 having, was that it wouldn't play the PS1 games with the blue bottoms.

Hardly.
If Sony had the capability of putting 4 or 5 million units on the US market by Thanksgiving, they would in a heartbeat. It isn't like they will be seeing any extra profit from those that buy the limited suppy and then sell them on eBay.

Seems like you are unfamiliar with the law of supply and demand. You are just deluded if you think that this is anything else but a marketing ploy to drive demand through the roof.

Have fun with your whimsical ideas. Stores are not going to raise prices on products of course. This is just a tactic by Sony to insure high sales of their product. I don't need to justify this to you, it is happening, and Sony is doing it.

It doesn't make any sense for this to be a ploy by Sony to drive up sales.
"I know what we'll do, let's put out a system that doesn't work right in limited numbers instead of a good one with more numbers. That way we will have people going to the competition to buy a system that is proven and works and no lines to get them."
This is exactly what you are saying Sony is doing trying to drive customers to the XB360 by telling people their system isn't ready for realease yet. Bob is exactly right with his summation that this has nothing to do with supply and demand with this product being a good and not a commodity. Supply and demand would only be applicable if there wasn't another readily available product that is virtually the same thing and Sony was able to price the PS3 whatever they wanted and putting out limited numbers would able them to price it $2000 for these 400K. Having a set price putting out negative press about the system and then dropping the number of units to be sold is only a good thing for Xbox and the people who buy them and put them on ebay. Demand is built into the system just by producing it since their is a whole world of consumers just waiting for the newest one on the market, Sony doesn't have to try any ploys as you say, they are gonna sell as many as they can produce, and having a fixed price it is more beneficial for them to produce millions than to produce less than half a million. The more you produce the less the cost of each one and the more profit over-all. This is not some coal company we are talkin about that will limit production of coal to drive the price up which is what you are used to seeing. I may not have graduated at the top of my calss but I do have a Bachelor's degree in Business and Public Administration and do understand the basic rules of supply and demand and they do not apply here.
