Seems like we have some popping up over the region today. Seems to be the avg. popcorn style storms but there are severe warnings all around us so be careful in any outdoor activities.

The storms that rode up the VA/KY line, which prompted the warning for Wise earlier, left over 1500 without power over in Knott, Leslie, Letcher, and Perry Counties.

Widespread severe weather outbreak possible for the Ohio/Tennessee Valley for the weekend, which could impact us. Potential for a good rainfall event too. Would be nice to have especially with the 4th coming up and the dry conditions.

Was driving home from Wise and going through Pound, I was looking for the funnel. Some small tree limbs were falling, I expected bigger ones. According to my wife, who went through shortly after going to Wise with her mother, there was some trees down. Listening to 93.5 I think it was as I was coming home, they were doing a remote in Clintwood and said something about the power being out heading up Red Onion area I believe.

Here they go again today. Looks like the northern part of Wise Co. got a little thundershower by the radar.

Just hit here in Fort a few minutes ago. Hard rain, which we need, and some nice lightning and loud thunder.

Over here in St Paul...just started raining pretty hard and the wind has really picked up about 5 mins ago....just now heard a bit of thunder

Looking out my office window there were some lightning strikes (looking towards Norton) and some really loud thunder, but absolutely no freakin rain

Severe thunderstorm watch just issued for all of Central and Eastern KY (including our border counties, Harlan, Bell, Letcher, and Pike) until 9 p.m. Buchanan, Dickenson, and Tazewell the Va counties in the watch..so far. We're just inside the "slight risk" for severe weather category for today (and tomorrow) but also very close to the "Moderate risk" for portions of KY. Storms beginning to fire around the region already.

Storms expected to continue, and increase, into the evening and overnight. It looks like the chances will still last into Sunday morning, possibly the afternoon hours too.

Very ominous skies here in Lee, winds starting to gusty pretty strong as these come in. No warnings out for any yet though.

Grainger... Greene... Hamblen... Hancock... Hawkins... Jefferson... Lee... Scott... Sullivan... Washington and wise counties...

At 749 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 9 miles southeast of Ponza to White Pine... moving east at 31 mph.

Winds 40 to 50 mph are expected with these storms.

Sustained winds or gusts up to 40 to 50 mph... hail of pea to less than penny size... and frequent cloud to ground lightning will be possible with these thunderstorms. Any further strengthening of these storms may require issuance of a warning.
