Yes, but members of both parties campaign on that value. I agree that the republicans have been caught with their pants down some, but democrats as well have. Clinton even went so far as to have a sexual encounter with an intern in the oval office where lots of intelligence dealing with our national security are discussed. Yeah, the republicans tried to crucify him, but the democrats stood by their "cigar" smoking man and thwarted an impeachment process that everyone knows should have been allowed to pass.

Last I heard, I don't recall a Democratic party member running purely on "religious values". They may say "I'm a Christian"--but that's not their central platform, or one of them. For the Republican party, it has been for years.
People are only human, so I understand mistakes, even really bad ones--but if you're running for office and you promise your constituents that you're going to run your campaign and your tenure in office according to The Bible and that you're steeped in religion, and you get caught doing some of the things these guys did--then I don't have much for you--and eventually it kind of rubs off on the party itself in the viewpoint of some voters.
