An aide to California Attorney General Kamala Harris was among three people arrested for operating a fictitious police department, officials said Wednesday.
KNX 1070’s Margaret Carrero reports Brandon Kiel worked as deputy director of community affairs at the California Department of Justice before being taken into custody.
Kiel, along with Santa Clarita residents David Henry and Tonette Hayes, were taken into custody last week on suspicion of impersonating police officers through their roles in the Masonic Fraternal Police Department (MFPD), according to the Associated Press.
Los Angeles resident Kiel, who authorities say identified himself as “Chief Deputy Director Brandon Kiel”, was arrested on suspicion of misusing his government ID, Sheriff’s Capt. Roosevelt Johnson said.
Hired in July 2013 in a civil service job, Kiel “worked with members of the public basically on issues and questions regarding the work of the department,” California Department of Justice spokesman David Beltran said.
Kiel’s name is mentioned under the “Special Thanks” section of a 2014 report on truancy from Attorney General Kamala Harris’ office.
The Justice Department said Kiel has been placed on administrative leave, but declined to provide further comment.
A Google+ account apparently linked to Henry features several images, including one photo that shows Henry, Hayes and at least one other unidentified “officer” with the following description: “#CHIEF-HENRY IS THE FIRST #AFRICAN-AMERICAN #MASONIC POLICE CHIEF SINCE 1100 B.C. THE M:.F:.P:.D:. IS THE FIRST #POLICE-DEPARTMENT IN THE WORLD CREATED BY THE POOR KNIGHTS OF CHRIST OR BETTER KNOWN TO THE WORLD AS THE #KNIGHTS-TEMPLARS.”
The page also includes several photos of singers Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and at least one image of Beyonce with rapper and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z.
Suspicions about the MFPD were aroused when various police chiefs in California received a letter announcing new leadership for the group.
The Jan. 20 letter obtained by The Associated Press was sent to police chiefs in Los Angeles and Orange counties as well as copied to state Attorney General Kamala Harris. It was written by Kiel, identified as its chief board of director, and Hayes, the grand chief director, and includes a badge emblem with Henry’s name below.
In the letter, the group claimed to be descendants of the “Knights Templar” and that their police agency had been in existence for 3,000 years, with sovereign jurisdiction in 33 U.S. states and across the border in Mexico.
The letter claimed the MFPD is registered with the state and is informing the chief it will be working with “Grandmasters, as well as fraternities and sororities throughout Sovereign Jurisdictions around the country.”
The letter claims there are 5,686 lodges and that the department “will be able to acquire intel that is not accessible to non-fraternal entities.” It said one aim of the department was to restore public trust.
“MFPD is described best by J. Edgar Hoover’s quote, `We are a fact-gathering organization only we don’t clear anybody and we don’t condemn anybody,” the letter said.
Capt. Johnson of the Sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley station said he met with members of the Masonic Fraternal Police Department on Feb. 4.
Henry and Hayes showed up in black jumpsuits with Masonic Fraternal Police patches and stars on their collars. Hayes had a handgun on her utility belt, Johnson said.
Kiel was there too, wearing a dark navy business suit. They told Johnson they were opening a new Canyon Country police station.
Johnson said he grew wary when they couldn’t answer questions about where they derived their authority, or jurisdictional issues.
“Brandon Kiel gave me a business card from the Department of Justice, showing he worked out of Kamala Harris’ office,” Johnson said. “That really raised red flags for me.”

A search of two homes in the 28000 block of Linda Vista Street and the 17000 Block of Sierra Highway in Santa Clarita turned up badges, identification cards, weapons, uniforms, police type vehicles and other law enforcement equipment, Sheriff’s detectives said.
“If the public saw them and wanted assistance, thinking they were an actual law enforcement officer, that would pose a danger to someone because they don’t have the training,” said Sheriff’s spokesperson Nicole Nishida.
Detectives believe the suspects were “attempting to deceive individuals in the community as to their status as law enforcement officials for a purpose yet to be determined,” according to Sheriff’s officials.
Investigators said they also believe there may be other individuals associated with the MFPD, but provided no further details.

Friends are advising me not only that I should distance myself from Kerry Cassidy but that her recent poorly veiled attack on me, and it is exactly that, is a sign of dementia. Joining the dregs of the internet, Cassidy is floating a grand theory, plagiarized from a dozen lunatic blogs, tying the imaginary Jade Helm conspiracy to one bizarre fabrication after another.
I like Kerry, and have worked to do so despite the warnings I have long received, citing her as a “queen poser” among the UFO community. I had deemed her both pleasant and harmless and now I find her neither.
Now and then we all have seen a good friend embarrass themselves. There is no joy in watching this happen. It only makes one wonder what were they thinking, or were they thinking at all?? Or just being stupid at that moment?
Today, Kerry Cassidy of Project Camelot published the most misleading and unsound article on her blog, I have ever seen on her site, which makes me question all of the other articles she has published.
This article was about the dispute within the Alternative Media regarding Jade Helm.
Veterans Today/CIA/FBI/Vets/Patriots and Jade Helm - Project Camelot
The accusations were flying. I was even mentioned in a questioning light about my recent and “convenient trip” to Italy, and my visit with the Keshe Foundation and the opening of the Spaceship Institute at LUM University.
The Project Camelot article was filled with few facts, and lots of speculation and just plain BS. The focus was the disagreement about Jade Helm. Gordon Duff says it is not a big deal. In this case Kerry sides with the lunatic fringe of the alternative media who seems to be drinking their own Kool-aid, the group that claims that Jade Helm is the beginning of Martial Law within the USA, with only 1200 soldiers.
When irresponsible claims are made and promoted by formerly credible journalists, we as the discerning public can begin to see who is the controlled opposition and who is being “handled” by their masters.
There is no small number of dangerous and rash claims within this article, everything from failed assassination attempts upon minor bit players within the alternative movement, people so insignificant that it would not be worth the effort to rub them out. Real power players do not use that tactic to swat gnats.
Here is what we know and can verify; Jade Helm is a real military exercise that will be running from July to September in the Southern tier states. VeteransToday.com recently did some major housekeeping, by dismissing contributors who had been discovered fabricating evidence for their articles. Gordon Duff formerly worked for a clandestine government agency, and is a master at his craft. Kerry probably pinched her nerve while taking a kick boxing class to keep fit and over did it. At least that is what she told me directly.
Here is what is fabricated; there were no botched assassination attempts. One man likely had a minor stroke while driving, common for a man of his age and poor physical condition. The other is a known liar and drunk, who has been caught again, simply making things up for attention, which conveniently cannot be verified, with no witnesses or other supporting evidence, just another bold faced lie.
The dismissal of contributors at VT has nothing to do with any orchestrated grand plan to impose martial law within the USA.
Just because Wal-Mart has closed some stores for remodeling and plumbing upgrades, does not mean FEMA camps.
We in the Alternative Media need to be super vigilant to being deceived by those who wish to both mis-lead and discredit us and our publications. Making claims that cannot be supported is not journalism, it is wild speculation meant to mis-lead the public. As I stated earlier, we in the discerning public have the opportunity to finally see who the honest and reliable journalists are and who is working to deceive the public at the behest of their unseen masters.
What makes this so troubling is that I know everyone mentioned within Kerry’s article and it hurts to discover that some are not what they seem, and others are exactly what they represent themselves to be. I have gained access to the real UFO community, the people who are truly in the know, not those who had a dream or channeled some imaginary information from the recesses of the subconscious. It is time for the poser and charlatans to be exposed so the public can gain real and factual information, not nonsense meant to mislead the public.
Like I said at the beginning of this article, it is awkward when a good friend embarrasses herself in such a public manner by posting irresponsible conjecture and fabrications.

Mike Harris, I have always had a great deal of respect for you, but this article leaves me with more questions than answers. You have every right to defend your reputation, but does this merit so viciously trashing that of others? Both sides of the “Jade Helm insanity side-show” need to take a breather. None of you, as none of most humans, are saints to speak of…Peace…

Four or so years ago I thanked Kerry for introducing me to many subjects over the years I followed her site and activities. I have noticed “same old, same old” a few times with her close associations with people I just plain don’t trust.

Kinda taking it hard there, Mike. Everyone has their own opinions, and no one has all the pieces. There is no need to throw more stones at genuine researchers (which Kerry has proved herself to be). The Stew thing is childish, on both sides. Now...dumping Fetzer and his Fox and Friend(s) and Canady from VT was smart. Hate to see Stew taken for a ride by Canady like Mike Vera (Latenight in the Midlands) was. Not too smart on Stew's part. He should have read up on the canady/Vera saga. Same thing gonna happen to him. And, Fetzer....ummm, what can I say except Mr. Logic is obviously a plant to stir pots and cause confusion. Glad that Kevin called him out. by the way, I know an Intel op when I see it. What isn't clear is are there any innocent players. I listened to the radio broadcast at Stew's site and the testimony was compelling. They were more forthright than I have ever heard Duff to be but let's be clear. There is an elitism in the whole bunch that makes me smell worms.
