OMGoodness! You're absolutely right! I doubt emily could afford one. Dolls weren't being made during the war. But still, Molly managed to get one. Why not Emily?

In the back of the book, Brave Emily, the photos of the British girls coming to America had dolls. Emily definitely needs a doll!

Emily might have had a Dean's Ragbook doll. They were cloth dolls made in England at that time & very poular.

Thanks Carol and Timbleberry!! I guess a good substitute will be the outcome. Eventhough Emily did not come from England with a doll, Molly could had given her one, or her beloved Aunt.

Forgot to add, just think of all the stories and albums we could post of Emily opening a present with a new, beautiful doll!

Well, emailed my London friend to find out more information on this. Would love to see some dolls that the UK has right now for Emily. Hopefully we will find something.

I've mentioned this before - I went on eBay and bought a miniature Madame Alexander Little Shaver doll. The original dolls were produced in the early 1940s and she looks kind of Mary Poppins to me. It cost me $35 but I really wanted Emily to have a doll and since it's from that time - I thought it was perfect.

I think I'm going to pretend that Molly's family gave it to her, or the Aunt she was her to visit. It works for me.
