Santa Barbara college also uses Super-8 in one of their beginning film classes.

I read somewhere that some head guy at Kodak was **** bent on getting rid of Super 8 around 1989-90. Some of the bigger names (maybe Brodsky & Treadway) lobbied to Kodak not to kill it. They did "kill" there regular 8mm line in 1991 but of course people just started special ordering it from Kodak so that its never really gone anywhere. Lastly sales of Super 8 film hit bottom in 1994-1996. Its reported that 1997 sales topped 94-96 combined. The Internet is the real hero now

When I first got into Super 8 in 1997 there was A TON of talk (fear) that the end was near cause sound film was axed. Ektachrome VNF had a luke warm reception as the "new" stock. Nowaday's the atmosphere around Super 8 is totally different. There is no fear about Super 8 ending only fear now is that we run out of working cameras
