No, not another ad for porn !!!!
I have just been given 2 cans of super16 short ends by a friend who shoots pro mo videos. What I want to know is:
Can it be stripped down to super8?
How many strips would I get?
Can it be put into 50ft Super8 carts?
Where can I get it done in the UK?
and finally where could I get it processed and telecined?

it might be cheaper to buy an old 16mm camera.

Doesn't super16mm render the same aspect ratio as 35mm? I thought is was just as large as 35mm, only without sound. If that's the case, couldn't you get just as many strips as they do with pro8mm? Which I believe is four. This stock also requires a super16 camera and not a regular 16 camera. I could be wrong though.

super 16 is *16* mm without sound. super *35* is 35 mm without sound. you can fit three 8 mm "strips" on 35 mm film, and one on 16.
by the way, 4x8 is 32. did you really think the perfs on 35mm were only 1.5 millimeters on each side? didn't really consider that, did you? ;-)

I wouldn't suggest that.
This is single perf Super16 stock.
If he buys an old 16mm camera, it's going to rip it's own sprocket holes down one side of his negative!

where on earth do you get your cameras? ;-)
i have one from 1934 and it handles single perf just fine. very few cameras, old or not, require double perf, except some high speed and animation ones.

Single perf 16mm winding B is also used to put optical sound on film in sync during a shoot using Auricon cameras. The image format is almost square. Now I know why some old movies I see are square, as was the new movie "Hybred". sp?

Hey is that true ???
So I can use single perf 16mm (super16) in my old double sprocket standard bolex?
Can anyone else confirm that?
Thanks
