It's all just a little piece of history repeating.

The word is about, there's something evolving,
whatever may come, the world keeps revolving
They say the next big thing is here,
    that the revolution's near,
but to me it seems quite clear
that it's all just a little bit of history repeating

The newspapers shout a new style is growing,
but it don't know if it's coming or going,
there is fashion, there is fad
some is good, some is bad
and the joke is rather sad,
that its all just a little bit of history repeating

.. and I've seen it before
.. and I'll see it again
.. yes I've seen it before
.. just little bits of history repeating

Some people don't dance, if they don't know who's singing,
why ask your head, it's your hips that are swinging
    life's for us to enjoy
    woman, man, girl and boy,
feel the pain, feel the joy
aside set the little bits of history repeating

.. just little bits of history repeating
.. and I've seen it before
.. and I'll see it again
.. yes I've seen it before
.. just little bits of history repeating

Bah, I've seen worse. A new take on the Artus legend, why not. Agree, the movie wasn't great but a) I've seen worse and b) I watched it on a plane.

As for why there are not more brilliant fims about from the likes of us: have you ever read or watched some of the stuff we produce on this board? I don't see much brilliance here either (and that includes my own efforts). Who says that we will turn out a masterpiece only by throwing enough cash at it?

I agree with the above, id say 99% of the work posted here is what youd expect of the typical ambitious beginning filmmaker.

I wonder who was in mind when that statment was made - which people here?

I just finished watching a somewhat recent "film" called King Arthur. I didn't see it right away because I thought it would suck, and after actually seeing it decided that I must be some king of prophet because it did in fact suck. All of the basic qualities were there, as far as hollywood stylized psuedo filmic art goes, but it was just horrible. Besides bastardizing the story of King Arthur, I found myself upset at the whole idea of the movie. Some producer is fronting this guy millions of dollars to make the worst movie since Hudson Hawk, and meanwhile there are so many people, just on this forum alone, with great ideas up the ass, who, if only were provided with the ability to convert these ideas to film, would be some of the greatest film makers ever.

I know that this forum is all about DIY, and saying, "fuck it, I'll do it on a shoe string budget," but seriously, shouldn't there be at least a few production companies, with enough money to spare on some brilliant but poor directors? I know there are a few rags to riches stories out there, but it seems like they all had there foot in the door to begin with. What about the folks who don't even have that?

I swear if I see another movie with a 10 million dollar budget that's as bad as this King Arthur movie I'm going to rent a gun, buy a bullet, and blow my brains out!

I know that most of the people here are UK chaps. Doesn't this movie piss you off? One of the greatest history and/or myths that ever came out of Europe, and these guys ruin it on the premise of some archeological evidence that I don't even believe exists. Seriously, this was like a John Woo film with crossbows, or even that guy who keeps making movies based on video games that everyone complains about.

I watched in horror as the bad guy spoke with a perfect American accent, and his son spoke back to him in a Russian one! WTF! Why couldn't the Taliban fly a plane into this directors house?

This awful Babylonian whore of a movie has actually stopped the evolution of art. It's terribleness has affected every aspect of the world; chi, aura, metachlorians, the holy spirit, whatever you believe in has all been damaged by this reprehensible waste of celluloid.

Is there any justice? Is there any diplomatic approach to destroying such an evil? Will we ever recover from such a disregard for art? Please someone empathise with me! I've haven't wanted to cut myself this since I watched The Pest.

I dunno, i'd hazard a guess that most people here have their quality scripts too, but are probably guarding them too closely to let the ideas out before they're ever made...

I think most of the ones on this forum are probably like that, i know i am.

You're referring to the Bruckhiemer version, right? I thought they pimped that as been the most accurate telling of the Arthur legend... I dunno. Never seen it.

I dunno why there's so much shit in today's market. Producers are afraid to take a chance. Someone in a similar position to us manages to get a flick out there, it's critically/financially successful, and everyone tries to copy that and reap the benifits.

George Romero lamented in Document of the Dead how there are no more independent companies that you could go to to get a million or two and make a movie. And this was in 1990.

And Neil Marshall applied quite a few times (perhaps into double digits) to the Film Council to get funding for Dog Soldiers. Eventually, he had to go overseas to finance and shoot it.

"I dunno why there's so much shit in today's market," said the wrier, director and producer of Killer Sandwich 2: Leftovers Reloaded.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">But as I've said before, I'm not setting out to make anything other than B-movies.

Then look at Michael Bay. Bad Boys = Entertaining Trash. Armageddon = Entertaining trash. Pearl Harbor = Just trash.
