What emulsion type though? Reversal or Negative? And is it Kodak? Kodak is amazing... some of the stocks they offer are outstanding. That is a really good price... It works out to bit cheaper here in the beautiful country of Canada. About the same in the States.

I just picked up a 16mm Krasnogorsk-3( aka k-3)on Ebay for $100 bucks a few months ago. They all come with a standard f 1.9/ 16 to 69mm Zoom lens,TTL lighting, a case, and five Lens filters.They take only 100' reels and have either a M42 or a bayo mount which is nice because you use different kinds of lenses on them like Nikons,ect

However, The one thing that trully sucks about the k-3 is that their spring-motorized. So that means you can shoot only get 30 seconds max if your shoting at 24FPS. Afterwards, you have to wind up the camera again.

Still, for the price it's a pretty good deal and if you wan't them to shoot longer you have to get a Toban Crystal-sync motor which can set you back easly $850 dollars!

With that price, you might as well save up for an Eclair ACL or a CP-16R

I don't know if they have the same dealsin England, but in the states you can get a 20% discount from Kodak if you show student ID. It's Definitely worth a try.

Is it possible to get 16mm transferred to Digital Tape (Mini DV) for a reasonable cost?

Reasonable is sort of relative. Good flying spot scanning transfer can be up to $275.US per hour. Pretty pricey for me.

Yes, they are cheaper and I hear they do quality work. I wanted to use them when I was in L.A. but the timing was bad and I ended up using Pro8mm instead. I'm happy to say the work was very good. And that's good since they are in that $250/per range. I may use them again when I'm done with the rest of the footage on my project as to keep it consistant looking.
