I'm trying to compile a list of the best books for film makers. On subjects such as camera work, lighting, editing etc. Do you have any suggestions?

Robert Rodrueguez: Reble without a crew!
his book on the making of Roadracers is a good read too.

Quentin Tarantino Shooting From The Hip is a intresting read.

The Zombies That Ate Pittsburgh. (are we still allowed to like zombies aroung here)

The Gurilla filmmaker hand book 2nd addition I found very informative.

And finaly Its not a filmmaking book but everyone shood read I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. Its the most cinamatic book ever writen.(in my opinion)

"Guerilla Filmmakers Handbook" is full of useful information (they got "White Angel" in the can for ?10,000 on 16mm) by people who've actually made films (3 so far). There's nothing in there about digital film-making yet, maybe in the next edition.

"Road Racers", Robert Robriguez's follow up to "Rebel Without A Crew" is a short read but interesting to see how he gets on with a crew.

"The Unkindest Cut" by Joe Queenan is very interesting and funny, in which a film critic attempts to make a movie for less than $7,000. He fails, but mainly because he decided to edit on film and make a final print for exhibition!

The Filmmaker's Handbook
The reading is kinda dry, and the edition I have is out of date.(I'm assuming there is a newer version), but I have yet to find another book that examines and explains all the technical aspects of filmmaking, from equipment, lighting, sound, and all the way through post production. While it is biased towards film, videomakers will find plenty of useful information too. Should be required reading for any filmmaking newbie

You may be interested to note that "urban Ghost story" made by the writers of Guerilla Film Making Handbook , is in cinemas for one week only.(only showing in London and Glasgow) Maybe we should all support low budget filmmakers and go and see it!!!!!
