Hey there.

Does anyone here use adobe premiere? Ive been capturing and logging footage for about 3 days and Im just setting the program up for editing.

Ive got a problem. When editing I usualy do most of my tight edits by using the slide tool on the time line and finding the exact frame. But now it doesnt seem to be showing the footage as I use the slide tool, only when I pull the time line over the footage. This is slowing things down and I cant for the life of me remember how to change this.

Anyone have any idea?

I dont know if that makes sense or if anyone on here uses premiere. BUT I NEED HELP.

hello

it sounds to me like your clips are a different format to your Adobe project settings.
The reason you cant see the clips is probably because they arent being rendered (as they are when you view the whole thing)
In the project window right click on one of your clips and see what the settings are (compression, size etc).
Then go to the Project settings and make sure that your Video settings are the same as this.

Hey there.

Ive checked the settings and they are fine. But I still cant see the picture when I extend/shorten the video in the timeline. I can edit fine but so **** slow. Im used to editing the otherway.

Any other ideas?

I dont know, but if you hold down the ALT key whilst you scrub the mouse through the clip you should be able to see it.
Not helpful, but there is probably quite a simple solution...

When I press Alt and scrub the monitor is just black.

What software you use for capturing ?
Make sure that is not running other application with video overlay.

Im capturing within Premiere. I can play the captured dv file fine. But I cant render previews or anything. Even when I render a bitmap it comes out as black.

I really f'kin' hate Premiere with a vengeance.

I spent the last two years editing on IMovie, then when I changed college, they had their course set up around Premiere.

To say that it's an industry standard, it's quite poo.

Sure, you can do blue screen and chroma effects and the like, but for just simple cutting of your flick, it's a pain in the ****** aperture.

Doesn't help that PC's keep crashing all the fricking time.

Capture all your clips etc, then REMOVE the firewire cable from the camera (you can leave it in the PC) and see what it does then.

This is the problem which I have with v6 of Premiere, it wouldn't preview, it'd run slow and stuff and wouldnt let me edit my clips etc in the monitor because for some reason, it didn't like me editing with the firewire cable still plugged into the camera.
