Hey there.
Thats what I did. The cable is not connected. The reason you were having that problem was proably because your camera is not "dv in" enabled.
Any other ideas?

Hey there.
I have NEVER had a problem with Premiere. It works GREAT for me. Btween Premiere/Photoshop/After effects/Soundforge there aint that much I cant do.
But I installed XP and its all gone up the wall.
I've worked out that it only seems to be captured dv footage that is giving me the problems. I imported a divx video file I had on my harddrive and everything works fine in premiere. But when I capture from my dv camera the footage is captured fine. I can play it all the way through. But I can not render or export anything. No previews/transitions.
Any ideas?

you could always download a copy of Vegas Video and the keygen ;-)
sorry, that doesn't help.
did you do an upgrade from old windows to winxp or a fresh install by formatting your drive first?
have you put the xp service pack on?
does your dv footage playback on mediaplayer (ie in apps outside of premiere)?
are you using the latest version of directx?

curious.
normally you will render something, even if you've selected the wrong codec.
have you patched premiere to the latest level?

Hey there.
Im up to date with premier...
I have Vegas Video. It looks like a fine program. I use Acid and Soundforge all the time. So I guess I could use it easy enough.
Its just thatIm used to premiere and I use After fx and Photoshop in with it too.
Any other ideas?

Despin,
I've had something like the first problem before.
I find it especially happens when there is a gap in the timeline, or some effects inbetween, rendered or otherwise.
I got around it by either having unadulterated footage on either side, or (better still) sizing the clip in the left hand window before putting it on the timeline at all.
but I could always render...
Try installing windows 95

I suggest upgrading to Windows 2000
Premiere didn't like XP on my machine. It loves Win 2k tho
