I think that Mia's quite right in asking for an o/t board. It must be really frustrating having to wade through all of that nonsense just to glean a nugget of pertinent information.

And Ivana, yes, it is amazing isn't it? And stupifying. And idiotic. And pathetic. And it's not in the least bit surprising either, given who we're talking about.

Yes an off topic board would be great, I just hope that if there is one that it won't be militantly monitored cause that does lose a bit of fun.

The endless white boxes are horrible I scroll down two or three and I've completely lost interest.

I wonder how many people are members here and if we could pm some people like we did when this whole place started.

It's a lack of "coherent" and "positive" community (not in the "Agree Brigade aspect, but where intelligent and mature discussion is allowed to flourish, whether you like something or not etc) that has turned me right off being a fan. I'm keeping the music to myself now.

Right now I'm going through a huge stage of being embarressed to be a fan. And it's the older, more mature fan they need to court, because we're the ones with the bigger discretionary spending money and longevity of taste (if that makes sense?).

I don't want to be made to feel "old and left out" by the music industry, but it's such a shame even Darren is going this route. I don't think it's him personally dictating "I'm going teeny bop", but the hold-over fans from another era/emotional need dictating how the fans are labelled. All management are seeing are the vocal few on the boards, which are in NO WAY any indication of what the true fan base is (or where they've gone).

Well that's good news. It would seem that they've actually been listening to their members for once.

I hope that you all enjoy using it.

The link in the box on the main page (FCPBs) now goes to the public forum index, rather than the dedicated DH board. That way, you can choose - wisely or unwisely!

*edits for typos* Bloody hell, today I've been typing like I'm wearing bloody boxing gloves!

Awww, that's ok Laurie. We all understand, hun.

I don't post much on here anymore either but my drop off is more to do with a lack of interest. I guess old habits are hard to break though and even though my days as a true fan are well and truly over, I'd hate to see this board go under so I still keep my hand in, so to speak. LOL You are probably right Laurie. Its probably me thats changed and I feel I have very little tolerance for anything re the DH world these days. Its all fine though because It doesnt really bother me anymore.. my heady days of fandom are over. But I still want those who are diehards to be able to enjoy their fan time. I am still a diehard Jovi fanatic so I get my fix of all things from that LOL

It's interesting how we can all have such different views on the same thing. I actually felt the board was getting better and that there were far more Darren-related posts, and far more fans sharing their "I met Darren"/"I saw Darren at..." experiences than ever before on the forum. It was so quiet, for a long time; like people were hiding their experiences.. and honestly, if that was the case I can partly understand why because on occassion (and just enough of an occassion that it has stuck with people) there have been comments made that relate to jealousy and accusations of favoritism etc.. and so if that were directed at me (which hell lol, maybe it is and I just don't see it lol) I would be shy of sharing things too.

People have become a bit more private, over the past couple of years... and I feel extremely sad about that.

But as far as Darren-related posts, I would say there are far more than there used to be, and that is a good thing

The GD forum was so desperately needed and I am so glad to see it finally up and running. It will make it so much easier for those who just drop by for Darren News, to find the Darren News lol And it will hopefully help to reduce the whole issue of thread hijacking. Although honestly lol, thread hijacking is not new. It has always been around. I am sure we can all remember doing it at one, two, three, ten! times or another on the Sony forum. It's the way of message boards. But I think having a GD board now will help reduce some of that

Lain? The sig you were referring to, with the copyrighted pic? Was it someone elses personal photograph in the sig, or was it a copyrighted pic as is one from a press website? Honestly hon, if it was from a press website, or something along that line, we are all guilty of doing that lol That is how we all make our sigs. Apart from using a photograph we personally took ourselves, or that someone else took and gave us permission to use, we are all theives lol

Sometimes.. and this is a general statement, not meant to be directed at you Lain, I think we are all far too tense! lol We immediately look for iddy biddy things to gripe about. We tend to focus on things we can complain about rather than just letting things slide. And those sorts of things have gotten worse and worse, in this fanbase, over the past few years; they really have. I find myself having to literally tell myself NO! Stop that! Because my immediate reaction to something is suddenly far too critical, and I never used to be that way. Actually, that is a good word... critical. I think that "we" tend to be far far too critical. Take, for example, the sig. Don't mean to pick on you Lain, just trying to use an example that is right here and now. Is it such a big deal that someone is using a copyrighted photo in their sig? (unless of course it is someone's personal photo and the person using it did not get permission). Like I said, we ALL do that. Nearly every sig, past and present, contains a photo that came from a magazine, or a press agency, or things of that sort.. and are all copyrighted and therefore when we alter them we are breaking copyright laws. Why are "we" (again, just generalizing here) suddenly so tense/critical about that?

Do you know what I mean? I don't know if I am quite making sense.

We have let criticalness, and tension, cut in to our experiences as fans. But no one but you can change that. I know this is a broken record kind of statement.. but if you want good convo, good GD convo, if it is not being created, create it! And if people don't come out to discuss, then I think that relates back to my earlier comments of people feeling they have to hide away.
