FMQB.com is reporting that former VAN HALEN frontman David Lee Roth is rumored to be replacing Howard Stern as Infinity Broadcasting's next radio star after The King Of All Media winds down his run on terrestrial radio. The Roth rumor, which has legs, was started by a report from Steppin' Out magazine's Chaunce Hayden.

In an online post, Hayden wrote: "Howard Stern's successor has been found! It's none other than '80s rocker David Lee Roth. Infinity Broadcasting isn't commenting and Roth has been asked to keep mum until it's officially announced. But an inside source at Infinity has confirmed the signing. Roth auditioned for the job both in L.A. and Boston and got very positive feed back from listeners. Roth has been running ads in trade publications looking for a producer 'For a HUGE radio show.' Roth is said to be taking over for Stern in early September, three months before the shock jocks contract is due to expire."

When reached last night (July 6) about this report, Infinity VP of Communications Karen Mateo told FMQB the company was "looking at a number of personalities to replace Howard" and added there was not an announcement pending. A call by FMQB to Roth's management has gone unreturned.

The Roth rumor could fit though. Diamond Dave has done a couple stints at Infinity outlets WZLX/Boston and KLSX/Los Angeles. If the rumor comes to fruition, it remains to be seen what stations Roth would pick up, as Infinity chairman and CEO Joel Hollander has stated that numerous personalities would likely replace Stern across his current affiliates.

Only problem with Diamond Dave is that he never shuts up about himself. I love him but a better interviewee than interviewer.
I would replace Howard Stern with a bucket of shit. It would be twice as funny as that self important pompous dick weed

yeah,agreed about Dave,but LOOK at Oprah Winfrey...she ALWAYS manages to bring the conversation back to herself no matter who she interviews and what the topic is...she's one of the richest women in the world.I think Dave would be funny actually,i'd give a listen.

i have a couple recordings of Dave when he was filling in on the radio. he is top notch. i would listen to Dave without a doubt. highly entertaining.

as for howard stern, he is a f****n waste.

I concure with Ian, it is probably going to be a
major challenge for Dave to shut his trap when
interviewing people, but as far as self-centered
egoism goes, he's probably only equalled by Stern
- and so, a worthy replacement all round.

I wonder how Dave will react to my Internet trans-
national phonecalls concerning his question-

him, I'll say, 'Ian from Rich Rags told me to do
it - he thinks you're as gay as a pink flamingo.'

proto-boobs continuing existence is, somehow, an

Roth will be a breath of fresh air, especially if

Yes,Bill,I have to agree.I admit I tune into Stern rarely once in awhile and although I may get a chuckle here and there,I REALLLYYYYYYY,don't get his mass appeal.He is beyond sophmoric and idiotic.I can only imagine what this guy would be doing if he werent a radio shock jock. Probalby still working at Burger King flirting with all the under age girls,downloading kiddie porn,drinking pbr's and playing with himself to midget porn.Thats just for starters...I'm sure later in the day he'd be on the nearest park bench feeding pidgeons while pointing and laughing at any one with a physical deformity.BLEEECHHH.
