(Odd rambling...)
"Life, she justifies, is not heroic, but survival..." - Nikki Giovanni
What are your survival instincts? What would you take with you? You can't have it all. You would never make it if you tried to save everything. Prioritize. Pick and choose among the possessions. Take only what you can carry on your own. Survival is key in the game of life. You can be a winner if you learn to let go. They are only objects. They are not necessary. They are only people. They are not important. You and only you are important. Do not want what you have. Do not want for what you cannot have. Know everything is transitory. To want is to make yourself vulnerable. You let down your guard and you will not survive intact. Losing pieces of your soul to meaningless things. Living battered and bruised on the inside. Some wounds never fade. We put on armor to keep the pain out, but we never notice that it also keeps the pain in. Just as long as we survive another day. Build your walls. Think only about yourself. No one else should matter. Survival. What is your definition of survival? Is it enough for you to just get out alive? Or do you need something more? A medal, a plaque, an award, the knowledge you are better than everyone else at this game. Comparing your battle scars and gloating over the fact you have the least. Yes, you survived. But did you ever live?

(And even more dark rambling...)
at last
the time has come
be patient
do not push
for it is silently
my heart will break
one night
and with no words
you will find me gone
come morning
collect beads of the night
formed from stardust
and fill your skin
with the dark weight
of the wet sky
let this night live
in your heart
and i will recognize your
face on the street
but let me go
you've got a smile
that pierces my soul and
reminds me of childhood
where everything was as fresh as
the bright blue sky
and the first snowfall
your touch is blue electric
an alabaster duchess
bleeding pretty colors
with a heart like a labyrinth
can someone find the key?
i believe i have been enlightened
i know
forgive me for i have fallen
you knew all along
you saw the smiles
but missed the tears
until yesterday
and when the mask fell
you turned and walked away
i never found you again
is this the living end?
all of my life
i have loved you
i believed you were the one
a fairy tale romance
meant to last
lie to me
but do not leave me
leave me
but do not forget me
forget me
but do not return
i will be gone come morning
the storm is rising
a vision of tomorrow
blood soaked love
rain soaked clothes
where does it fall?
where did we fall?
i never heard a sound
i'm walking
through misty mornings and
cigarette smoke
got to find a reason here
a reason things went wrong
i try so hard to release you
but your name is caught in my throat
i found a dream i could speak to
a cheap substitute
for your arms around my waist
and your lips pressed to mine
if i don't survive the night
will you mourn my passing?
you broke my heart
yet you live with the guilt
i call you
and the indifference is so think
i choke
no breathing room in this cramped space
between the telephone lines
hang up
i'll be gone come morning
in this dream
you forgive me
and i see enchanted kingdoms
i am a princess
and you have saved me
the closest touch is my own
and i reach for you
forver will the dreams disappear
time heals but we are
forever broken
walk your chosen path
two roads diverged
one autumn night
under a harvest moon
i chose one, you the other
but you forgot to give back my heart
the roaring of the silence
stretched between us to the
point of snapping
but i read it in your eyes
why couldn't they lie?
it seems like we could go on forever
like this
just never talking to eachother
like this is it
we didn't end with a bang
we went out in silence
and its over
without a single word
colors have faded with the light of
yesterday
black and white
and diamond tears
that shatter on the sidewalk
raindrops
miniature explosions
with rippling fallour
washing away
your feel on my skin
an aching memory
cleanse me of the memories
they only hurt me now
just like you did
