Meet WMU Head Coach Steve Hawkins
Coach Hawkins is in his third season at the helm of the Bronco men's basketball team. He won back-to-back Mid-American Conference West Divsion titles in his first two years at Western Michigan University, thus establishing WMU as one of the premier programs in the Midwest. Hawkins' love of basketball began at the John Wooden Basketball Camps in Southern California. The Bronco Summer Youth Basketball Camps are a vital part of Coach Hawkins' program.

    Message from Coach Hawkins
"Conducting our basketball camps is one of my most important responsibilities as the head coach at Western Michigan University. As a teacher of the game, I emphasize learning solid fundamentals, while playing with great passion and enthusiasm. These are the guiding principles of our program. Our 2007 camps will provide a fun, competitive, fast-paced environment for young men to learn the game as well as meet new friends. We are looking forward to a tremendous summer and hope that you will join us!"

Why the Western Michigan Basketball Camp?

Our Staff - We carefully select an experienced group of coaches and counselors who love the game of basketball and excel at teaching fundamentals to young people. We strive to instill confidence into our campers. Our camper-to-coach ratio is low in order to provide quality instruction and supervision
The Environment - The Bronco Camps are designed to create an environment where athletes are respected (not belittled), encouraged (not yelled at) and coached (not crushed). We evaluate each camper's skills the first day, taking into account age and grade, and place them into groups that will allow them to maximize their opportunity to improve. We make sure the sport of basketball stays fun
Our Mission - To offer a basketball camp that targets the objectives our campers have for themselves. We will teach sound fundamentals to beginners as well as provide a highly competitive environment for more advanced players. To become a great basketball player, it takes a dedication and determination over the long haul. The Western Michigan Basketball Camp will equip each camper with goal setting skills and workout plans that will help them continue to improve after camp

HOW TO ENROLL FOR K-COLLEGE BASKETBALL CAMPS...

Most importantly, enroll early! Tuition rates for some of our boys' basketball camps will be discounted for those who enroll prior to June 1, 2007. On June 1, the rates will increase. Please see each camp session's information page (use the "camps offered" menu, above) for more information about the tuition rates before and after June 1, 2007.

As of the 2007 camp season, we offer two ways to enroll in our boys' basketball camps: by mail, or online. Note: if you are registering as part of a group and/or if you qualify for any other discounted pricing (sibling discounts, etc.), you must enroll the discounted campers by mail. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but at this time our online enrollment system is not equipped to process discounted registrations.

    To enroll by mail:
    1. Using the "camps offered" menu (above), click on the camp session in which you wish to enroll, and an information window will open for that camp.
    2. Click on "enroll by mail". This action will open a registration form in .PDF format.
    3. Download/print the registration form(s), complete them, and mail them to us along with your payment check made out to "Kalamazoo Sports Camps".
    4. Note: make sure you include a parent's e-mail address on the registration form, as this will be our only means of sending you a camp confirmation packet.
    5. You will receive a confirmation e-mail (along with information about your chosen camp) within a week or two. You may wish to add "[email protected]" to your address book to ensure that this confirmation e-mail does not get filtered into your spam folder.

    To enroll online:
    1. Using the "camps offered" menu (above), click on the camp session in which you wish to enroll, and an information window will open for that camp.
    2. Click on "enroll online". This action will open an online registration window.

    3. Online registration involves two steps: (1) submission of your registration information, and (2) online payment processing. It is crucial that you complete both steps 1 & 2. See below for more details.
    4. First, click on "STEP 1" and fill out the online registration form. Click on the "submit" button when you are ready to send your information.
    5. Once you have submitted your registration information, proceed to "STEP 2", which will open a payment processing page. Using this page, select your camps and use the "check-out" feature to complete your transaction.

    6. IMPORTANT: YOU MUST FILL OUT A SEPARATE "REGISTRATION FORM" (step 1) FOR EACH CAMP/CAMPER YOU WISH TO REGISTER. WHEN PAYING, HOWEVER (step 2), YOU NEED ONLY PROCESS PAYMENT ONE TIME FOR ALL CAMPS/CAMPERS. THUS, IF YOU ARE ENROLLING MORE THAN ONE CAMPER IN A SINGLE CAMP (AND/OR IF YOU ARE ENROLLING A SINGLE CAMPER IN MORE THAN ONE CAMP WEEK/SESSION) YOU CAN ADD AS MANY "ITEMS" TO YOUR CART AS NEEDED, AND THEN PAY JUST ONCE FOR ALL CAMPS.
    7. Note: make sure you include a parent's e-mail address on the registration form (step 1), as this will be our only means of sending you a camp confirmation packet.
    8. You will receive a confirmation e-mail (along with information about your chosen camp) within a few days. You may wish to add "[email protected]" to your address book to ensure that this confirmation e-mail does not get filtered into your spam folder.
**please note: at this time, online registration requires an additional 3.5% processing fee... see our FAQ page for an explanation of this charge**
