This was such an horrendous act. Being a Virginian myself, my thoughts and prayers go out to all the students, their families and the citizens of Blacksburg who have been affected.

Yes very tragic and while I believe the ultimate blame lies Cho...as a parent I STILL CANNOT get past the fact the school wasn't immediately locked down and he had over almost 3 hours to plan an execute.
I wonder how many lives could have been saved if people were warned???
Further more this kid had terrible issues and why can't we learn from the past...someone capable of doing this sort of thing ALWAYS gives clues before hand. He teachers and classmates were very disturbed by his behavior NOT TO MENTION some of the papers he turned in raging hateful things.


I heard the most absurd thing on the radio yesterday among all the dribble about stiffer gun control and what shoulda, coudla, woulda's this lady calls in PISSED off because President Bush made it to Va the very next day and it took him more than a week to arrive on scene after Katrina so just goes to show what a racist he is????
WTF...seriously not a huge Bush fan BUT come ON???

I really admired what our governor said about people trying to politicize this event. He said he loathes them and that they should stay away.

This is very wrong! For some reason these seem to happen only in April. A list of 5 deadly school shootings shown on tv made reference to all but one taking place in April. Tomorrow marks the anniversaries of the deadly fire in Waco, TX, and the Oklahoma City bombing, while Friday marks the anniversary of the Columbine school shootings. Ironically a former Columbine survivor also lived thru this tragedy. Ultimately though, it's the killer who's responsible for the tragedy.

It's a tragedy. I wonder if there's anything to that April thing you mention. Maybe it's springtime. It seems to depress the hell out of some people. Especially lonely people.

The most horrible story I read was about that brave professor who blocked the door, allowing his students to escape through the window and getting killed himself. I doubt I would be that courageous in the face of death. He deserves a statue or something.

Well considering he was a Holocaust survivor, I am sure he had experienced worse...not to minimize what he did on Monday. Yeah he was shot five times to the chest. I am still stunned. Even Chloe, who has been saying for a while that she wanted to go to VT to be a vet has been asking a lot of questions about this and has said she doesn't want to go now, but I am sure she will change her mind.

Well thats a damn shame...11 years old and having to worry about that. Truly though I can't imagine it happening again on the same campus and she has many years to think about it. Hug her for me!!!

Yeah, what a wonderful world we've got going here sometimes. And given the media-attention this thing has gotten (even all the way over here) it probably won't be long before some fame-crazed psychopath tries it on another campus...

Well there was already a case of a kid trying to get into his school with a gun according, I think, to NPR yesterday.
