"That's a good thing, if you still help the other 99% and guarantee they have the opportunity to be part of that top 1% through hard work."
Untrue. Some of these got it through shady business dealings. People who don't make over $250,000 got two things and that is jack shit. Thing is he acted like he was helping the poor, but he wasn't, he was helping his fellow oil barrons, mainly.
"then ban alcohol and tobacco"
You saw what happened with this less than a hundred years ago, right? Well if such a ban was imposed, then history would repeat itself. Besides, alcohol is not all bad. As an adult if you drink say a glass of wine a day your heart will be healthier and no truly nasty side-effects since you won't be killing your liver. Even if you did ban it people would make it in their own homes, heck some people still do. So banning alcohol would be a very bad idea, since it would more than likely increase crime rates, and as long as you monitor intake by say imposing limits on how much a person can drink through a national carding system a day or something, but that may fail.
Point is, I like my Black Russians.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough; I'm not defending Bush, nor I'm saying he did anything for the rest 99%; I'm just saying governments should care for everybody, from richest to poorest; as for those who made money nastily, well, you can't ban streets because some people attack others in them. Just try to catch everyone doing anything bad, and make them pay 10 times their damage.

Other drugs like marijuana are forbidden and they don't are such a big problem. It's just a matter of the number of people doing them, and if alcohol and tobacco were so expensive, and had so much bad marketing, it could be possible. It WILL be possible. I doubt at least tobacco would stay legal for half a century.
One of a country's functions, or services, to its citizens, is to protect them. Protect them from external enemies, with the army. Protect them from internal enemies, with the police. Protect them from injury and death, with regulations, quality and health systems. And this should eventually include to protect them from alcohol and tobacco.
Besides, alcohol is not all bad. As an adult if you drink say a glass of wine a day your heart will be healthier and no truly nasty side-effects since you won't be killing your liver.
It kills neurons, and you can get the same benefits with grape juice which doesn't.
Banning alcohol and tobacco (especially the former) would require a generation and big, even structural changes everywhere, including the culture itself. But with the proper education and information, and with the benefits as of having free health services ? free providing you don't fuck your life on purpose ?, it could get eventually done.
Just remember how if you went back to the 1500s and told somebody that slavery should be banned, you'd be laughed at. And now we all see slavery as an abominable thing.

Well yea, everyone wants equality. But sadly it isn't happening.

Thing is, tobacco is a plant, and people can grow it, just like pot. Of course I'm for the banning of tobacco. But what annoys me is these anti-weed campaigns. They all make stuff up. I've road with people who smoked a joint and went driving, they were perfectly fine. Pot isn't as bad as it is made out to be. I wouldn't do it, but the only reason the US banned it was to drive the Mexicans out of Texas.

In other words making shit up like the anti-mary jane ads of today.

Then who is to say in the future that capitalism is a failed outdated system? Who is to say that in the future that there will no longer be telephones? No one can say for sure, but just maybe alcohol might not be the thing killing nueron, but instead something else, since currently we do not fully understand the brain?
Of course I may be wrong, but then again so could you. It's hard to say what future studies will prove or disprove.

That's what the marihuana lobbies want you to think like. And the reason is marihuana is the entrance gate to worse drugs they want to sell, and people don't dare to start with.
And there's something to be taken in consideration: while drug merchants (and retarded junkies supporting them) will pay lobby work for people to believe marihuana is better than Jebus, there's no financial interest for people like me and thousands of health scientists to fight against it. There's a life interest. I believe you'll be especially sensitive to life versus money.

The process why this happens is fairly well known, it's about free radicals, I studied it, but forgot the details.

Ah, yes, the old gateway drug.
Another lie. Out of all the people I know the only illegal drug they do is pot, that's it, they're not screwed up on crack, not on LSD, none of that stuff. Just pot, from speaking to people that has actually done it, a majority of them 99.9% has just done pot as their illegal drug, it is not a gateway drug. That's just a lie they use in textbooks.

But those who are, started with alcohol, then pot. This is a statistical fact.

That's a matter of statistics, and seems to be happening in all countries. Remember, nobody is paying me ?unlike those who say pot is good? to say this, and even so I'll spend my time defending it.

Just like Saddam had WMDs. Of course if (which I doubt we will) find them, you can come back and mock me for that lame comparison.

See above. Of course this will never be resolved between you and I since we are both staunch on our ideas, so let's just get back on topic.

It's time for a lesson!
The REAL effects of cannabis by professor Dop T'up.
Seriously though, i have done the drug before. I know just what it's like. Right now, i am 40 hours sleep deprived. My current level of focus is about the same as when i was on the drug. The main difference then was i wasn't having any micro sleeps, i.e. i was not tired like i am now. These effects lasted for the next two days, slowly decreasing in strength.
Admittally, i didn't enjoy being on the drug, so i have not done it since. But i know the short term effects, you can't focus that well. Thus i think it might be dangerous to drive under the influence of the drug. However, due to the fact that i ate bits of the dried leaves and stem in a small cake may have caused the drug to have a more powerfull effect. Also, the drug (like most) may affect people in different ways.
Anyway, it's difficult for you to convince any supporters of the drug as you have never felt the effects yourself. While i'm not suggesting you must do the drug (and i would prefer if no one would do them), it's this factors that is your main downfall in your arguement, since we know what is real and not real in what they say about the drug.
